Thumbs down Golden Corral

I haven't been to a Golden Corral in about 5 years, but today the family and friends vistinging decided to go for breakfast.

We got in there for a late breakfast, and the breakfast was alright nothing great. They switched over to lunch for only being there for only 20 minutes and I was like cool whatever. The service there was lacking tremendously, I had one refill of water and then the waitress left for about 20 minutes. Tried to flag her down and she would just ignore my entire family. We were not the only people in there lacking of service either. There was some other servers from other areas coming over to give us refills, but other than that the entire time there sucked.

Finally my dad went to go get some plates from the front, and the waitress comes saying "You can't do that!". My dad asked her why not she never came back to our area to wait on us. She decides to go tell the manager, and the manager comes over....and we explain what happened...and we end up getting out money back!

Well...point of the story is.... I hate bad service at a resturant! Why even come to work for $2.35 an hour and not provide at least decent service. I have no problem leaving a reasonable tip for decent service or a tad bit more for superior service. It just burns me up when I can't enjoy my meal due to the lack of service.

I guess I get what I deserve for eating that lack of a better word, crap.

There's a lot of folks out there that love them but I'm not one of them for the exact same reasons Chris.

While on a mini vacation, brother and I went to the same resteraunt. I had never been there before and found the food fair, as you say, nothing special. The servie was poor but, i feel we got our money's worth in food though we went for dinner and not breakfast.

My family also had the same problem, but at an IHOP. Food was decent, like you guys have said, but the service flat out sucked. How do you forget about a group of 8 people? I think it might vary on a location-by-location basis, because I've been to lots of other IHOPS and haven' been happier, but that one sucked.

I'm not sure I would want to return to the store I visited...but, a different store....well, I might give that a try since I believe all stores could not possibly be the same.....or could they? Also, trying for lunch or breakfast, I might try that, but, only if I were going to a different store. I only say that since my burger king experience. the burger king in St. Pete is much cleaner and more tasty than the Tampa stores....any Tampa store. and the KFC in Tampa resembles the city dump.....while the St. Pete store is clean and they got people who speak the same language as me. I feel more comfortable in St. Pete. I would guess that the GC is afflicted with the same virus.....it's not the store, it's the help.....generations of third world habits cannot be forgotten just because you crossed the border. And despite what the media talking heads tell you, it is everywhere. The only difference is that some managers of some stores want to keep a good amount of sales and, are smart enough to realize unhappy people don't return. I see it here every day as I travel the fast food avenue to work.

Question

One bad waitress turned you off of a restaurant where the manager gave you your money back because of the poor service? I think it was Abe Lincoln that said something about not pleasing all the people all the time.

I like to take my grand kids to Golden Corral, they love it, they can eat anything they want. My 3 year old grand-daughter had rice, carrots, ripe olives and ice cream all at the same time. Now that was a happy child. Gourmet? Naw. I get a little too full when we eat there though.

I don't like poor service either. When I get poor service, I complain to the manager and leave a 2 cent tip. When I get especially good service I also tell the manager and leave way too much of a tip.

just a tip for you fellas that have never been a server at such a place as a Golden Corral, most of the time, but not all of the time, a large party is alot of work for the server, and the tip is generally very small. I have seen the same thing happen time and time again. It's not right that the server ignored you, but I bet a dollar to a hole in a donut, she didn't even expect a tip at all. When I am hosting a large group, I will give our server a ten spot and tell them they will get the rest based on service, if I don't know them anyway. It doesn't always work, but more often then not it does.
