Israel strikes Beirut airport, blocks ports

Quote:
BEIRUT, Lebanon (CNN) -- Israeli aircraft bombed Beirut International Airport on Thursday before blocking naval traffic in Lebanese waters as Israel expanded its military campaign against Hezbollah guerrillas who kidnapped two Israeli soldiers.

It most certainly is. Israel has in the past even exchanged live prisoners for the bodies of dead Israeli soldiers. These terrorist organisations see this as weakness and wish to exploit this practice to put some of the deadliest of their chronies back where they can do the least good. What are the Israelis to do? If they exchange someone else will most certainly become a victim of the actions of Hizbollah (and their masters, Syria, and to a lesser degree Iran).

Israel has repeatedly threatened reprisals, but the terrorists bank on the unfailing support of the E.U. The European Union has for years now ignored any attack on Israel, but are quick to make a noise against retaliation. Whatever the terrorist organisations wish to do against Israel is fine, and every act of terror against Israelis and/or Jews are seen as just. The E.U. is as much to blame for the escalation of tension in the Middle-East as the active participants.

How does this sound?: Israel suffers an attack from terrorists. Their Intelligence Agencies (Shin Bet and Mossad) figure out who gave the order for the attack, and they fly out a chopper and nail the worthless son-of-a-female-dog with a rocket. The headlines all over the globe carry the story of some poor innocent peaceful leader of orphans and crippled children who got blown up by the agressive Zionist warmongers. The Jewish dead that triggered the response are not even mentioned, thereby deliberately creating the impression that the conflict is a one-sided shooting of fish in a barrel.

The Israeli response to the spate of kidnapping of their soldiers is drastic, but God knows, they have suffered their share of violence without retaliation for the sake of a possible peace. Israel will cease to exist if they accept a peace on the Syrians' terms. Israel does not want a war, but it seems to me that their choices are limited to fighting or dying.

It is the soft solution of these problems by the blasted liberals all over the world that fuel terror.

That's my story an' I'm stickin' to it.

Israel has hit hundreds of targets in Lebanon as part of its effort to free two soldiers captured by Hezbollah guerrillas, a top Israeli general said today. Israel also said it has information that the guerrillas who captured the soldiers are trying to transfer them to Iran, a Foreign Ministry spokesman said, according to The Associated Press.
Oh thats just great. So Iran gets the soldiers, Israel hits Irans nuke facilities, Syria goes after Israel along with Iran. Yep, SHTF time.

As much as I respect the Israelies,I don't believe some of their "information",it has been shown to be mis-information too many times, and this sounds too pat.

Unlike most of the other Muslim terrorist organizations, Hezbollah is comprised of Shi'a Muslims, not Sunnis, and Shi'ite Iran has been supplying them with weapons and money for years.

It would make sense for Hezbollah to try to smuggle the captives out of reach, and this is Israel's warning to Iran not to get any cute ideas.

I just heard on Fox news that Iran has said an attack on Syria by Israel would be an attack on the muslim world. Basically if Israel attacks Syria Iran will join in.

Iran survived the war with Saddam Hussein because they had the will and more warm bodies, and because they were desperate enough to do stuff like sending kids too young to carry a gun out front to set off the land mines.

But Israel won't meet them on the battlefield like Saddam did, because he was trying to take territory and they won't be. Israel will just start methodically knocking them back into the Stone Age.

What bothers me is the preaching of "restraint" by the U.S. while at the same time saying that Israel has a right to defend themselves. I hope we stand back and let them do their thing this time.

Well, I kind of like it. Maybe now the whole thing will get settled once and for all. I can't wait for the sheet to hit the fan in a big way. I'm tired of the whineing from isreal. I'm pleased they finally stepped up to the plate. Now, let's see if they can eat the whole thing! My fear is the little cow poke will drag us into this mess too. Just what we need, a third war to go with the two we already have and the other two that are on the back burner! ...... ain't gas high enough for you bush?

Quote from the Vatican Secretary of State

...speaking for the Pope: "In particular, the Holy See deplores the attack on Lebanon, a free and sovereign nation,"

Excuse me? Hezbollah holds about a fourth of the parliamentary seats in Lebanon's government, and they crossed into Israel first to attack and capture soldiers. Since Israel is also a "free and sovereign nation," I'd say that an attack on them by a faction of the Lebanese government was an act of war.

The Lebanese government has consistently refused to disarm Hezbollah, which gets about 200 million dollars a year from Iran and most of its weapons from Syria.
