Why in the heck aren't tracer ammo legal in CA? I mean come on, it's not like we have lots of forests around my area. It's nothing but dirt roads and stuff where I shoot at. Tracer ammo is fun. I hate CA. Can't wait until i'm 18 and can get out of here.

Well one reason it's illegal is because when the RPK Gestapo comes for their subjects tracers will give you an unfair advantage over your captors.

I don;t know about other states, but here in Virginia tracer rounds are illegal too, that doesn't mean we can't still get them and shoot them, it just means if we get CAUGHT we get to see a judge.........

Gee, I thought there were enough grass and brush fires in California, already. Some nitwit set the berm at the 300 yd line on fire a while back. Took the fire dept a while to get it out, too. Oh, I'm in Houston, TX. And the ammo is legal here, but prohibited at the range where I shoot.

its legal here in washington state, at least i think ? i packed some tracer rounds from cheaperthendirt.com in some 7.62x54 russian (mosin nagant)
rifle and thay worked GREAT ! started out bright red at about 100 to 150 yards or so and some hit a rock and went strait up in the air cool cool cool
anything that puts the goverment at some disadvantage will be outlawed

Be careful with tracer rounds and linked ammo where they are illegal. I would never even bring them on my property. I have read horror stories online where collecters had stuff like that in their collection and got arrested and charged. One said he had no gun to even fire the linked ammo. He just had it for kicks to collect. Don't let your hobby get you in trouble needlessly. Keep away from that stuff. Read one story where an exwife got the hubby in a big arrest. Stuff happens you don't expect. Watch those laws fellas.

I set the range on fire one time with tracers and an M1 garand. Somebody gave me a bunch of lake city ammo. I assumed it was ball as it didn't look any different from ball ammo. First round I fired bounced off the 200 steel gong I was like what the !!!!. Few minutes later I saw some smoke, you guessed it the tracer set the dry summer grass on fire. It was fun putting that out with shorts on!!!! By the time I got it out it had burned a 25'-30' diameter patch of grass.
