| I had one and wished I had it back
I once had a Browning bolt action in this caliber.
The longest firing experience was nine rounds at one bench sitting firing a 180 grain bullet but this was not really disagreeable. It will have a little more kick than a .30-06. My only advice would be avoid a lighter weight rifle in this caliber.

I just got one a couple weeks ago, so I haven't had a chance to fire it yet, but I have fired the 300 WM in other guns, and found it very tolerable.
I will use it on black bear, and moose, if I draw a tag.
Billy;my gun has a laminate stock, so we may have to melt it opposed to burn it. |

I have found that although the 300 does kick it is not unbearably bad. With sing almost any caliber can be shot. Just load the cartridge with small grained bullets and work your way up to 180s when you get comfortable.

This post reminds me of old elmer keiths saying.
You aint a real man if you cant handle recoil.

You aint a real man if you cant handle recoil. | Handling recoil and shooting well with it are two very different things!
Don't you know it's rude to point a gun LOL

I was raised to never point unless you intend to kill, so my "point", I guess, is why make it seem like you want to kill us? My first comment on this was made in fun because you seemed unhappy with only one gun pointing and added another. If it makes you feel better and more manly you can mock me some more.

If it makes you feel better and more manly you can mock me some more. | Nothing to do with manly, its for another member who whinged just like you.Its a picture,an inanimate object. If you are scared or worried about a picture you have issues. My avatar isnt the only one on this site, there are a few others with the same kind of picture.Maybe i will have to put in a claim of discrimination to stop the whingers.Nah that would be what a wowser would do.Get over it ya soft &^$#.
I use my 300wm for all sorts of shooting. Its used in big game rifle competition. Some nights i take it spotlighting for the long shots or just some fun making rabbits, cats and foxes explode. And its also my deer rifle. So i guess its a multi functional calibre for me.I am a big lad and the rifle is a brno 602 which is 10 pounds. So recoil isnt an issue.Only if fired prone does recoil become noticable.

I was looking at a Win. Black Shadow in .300win.and another man that weighed in the 140lb class said he owned one.I asked about the recoil from a light rifle like that.He said it wasnt bad at all.I never thought they were too bad. sam.

Scared, worried.. nope, don't try to pass this off like i'm the wimp.
I made a joke! I realize you did not get my facetious original comment but if someone farts, it can be funny or offensive depending on the crowd but it is seldom scary.. I am comparing the pics to a gastric anomaly only for the analogy not to berate you. Don't make a huge ordeal of it and attempt to belittle me any further, thank you!
I have many friends who either have no, or alot, of problems with the recoil from a .300wm so I would not recommend it as an only, or first, caliber but would definitely recommend someone to give it a go, as any caliber, you may love it!

put on a muzzle brake and have compensators installed in rear of stock. Compensators installed cost me 130.00. That plus a good recoil pad and the recoil will be less than a 308. I have one and use it as an all around gun. Mostly coyotes and whitetail

| 300 wm kick compared to .243 win model 100
Hi everyone. I'm looking at getting a .300 win mag as a new gift and was wondering how the kick was compared to a .243 win model 100. Not that there is anything wrong with the .243 but it was my fathers and it's very old (he got it before I was born 35 yrs ago) and I just wanted to get something of my own. One day I hope to retire in Montana and would like to have something to take down bigger game then Florida whitetail. Thanks.

If you think the 243 has a kick the 300mag is not for you. Try before you buy.
