Question on CHL

In Texas on the D.P.S. site ( Texas Department of Public Safety - Courtesy, Service, Protection ) under the Concealed Handgun
Statutes & Related Weapons Laws
(PDF) link they state two category of handguns SA and NSA as being listed on your approved CHL.

Does this mean if you are judged proficient using a .45 ACP during your class and your certificate states so that you can conceal carry any Semi Automatic pistol of any caliber upon receiving your CHL?

Aftermath,

If you qualify with a semi-auto firearm, you are qualified to carry either a semi-auto or revolver, and your CHL will show SA in the category field. If you qualify with a revolver you can only carry a revolver and the CHL has, I believe an R in the category field. My CHL has the SA on it.

Thanks Tex45,

Is the CHL permit limited to the model/caliber of gun you qualified with or is it like a drivers license once you qualify you can drive any make and model you can afford?

I'd be a little concerned if someone qualified with a low caliber target pistol say a .22 and was going to carry a .45 or bigger.
