first thing (if you want accuracy and don't care how it looks)..it to take off the barrel band..that will free float the barrel and instantly improve accuracy.
Best mod you can do is a simple hammer (volquartsen or power custom or skeeter..all are good) and a buffer to keep your scope from moving (and reducing noise) and forget all the other expensive stuff unless you really want to make it look hot, or you want to start shooting competition.
WHAT? A 10/22 parts store owner telling you to NOT buy everything under the sun? yep...thats how I roll.
Check out Ruger22.com my "help" site. (there is an old site and new site link as it is still under construction. the best stuff is still on the old site)
It has over 100 detailed photos showing how to do anything to a 10/22 and how to install any mod part.
If you need any help, ask...there are some top notch 10/22 smiths hanging around here.
Bob

Out of the original barrel from Ruger you can shoot Stingers but if you add a match chamber aftermarket barrel try loading one first, if it marks the bullet or pushes it back into the case do not use.
Have fun and enjoy.

Like he said!
I never shoot stingers out of factory or aftermarket barrels. In fact, if I am not shooting eley match ammo, I am shooting dirty, ugly, nasty ,accurate as !!!! old winchester dyna point from walmart.
The have stopped making it (something to do with a recall) but say they will again soon.....but I have 3 cases stashed...so I am not worrying yet.

I got a stainless 10/22 in hardwood stock with a silver 4x Simmons scope that I've had for years.

Good little rifle as it is.....

Thumbs up

We have similar tastes, Joe! My Stainless Wally Mart Special wears a silver Simmons 3-9X32 in silver rings. I even sprayed the Weaver TO9 rail silver!
Not a bad little rifle, though I do have several old classics that outshoot it.

10/22

I really like my 10/22. Never did anything to it.
Great rifle.
Never saw any reason to change anything. Shoots just fine as is.
