Sometime ago I mentioned that I bought some 9mm NORMA ammo from Kiesler's

I was told that this is some of the best 115FMJ ammo around and that the price was right.

Today in Gunbroker someone was selling the stuff I bought in the same stripper clips, rounds per box and same box marking and lot number of that which I purchased. They state that it is like +P+
ammo and can take away about 25% of your barrel life if you continue using it regularly. Does anyone else know about this. He
said first of all he would not use it without a good back stop at an outdoor range only, as it is armor piercing. 1250-1350FPS, 100 Gr.
bullet. NATO approved.

I am mostly concerned about the possibility of it doing any damage to my P95 Ruger? That I don't want to do. If that is the
case, I may have about 700 rounds for sale.

Was the Norma ammo in original boxes with original markings? What does the headstamp indicate? If it is +P or +P+ I would expect it to say so on both box and headstamp. Norma is a very competent source - has made high quality stuff for many years though I think there was a gap in availability in the US.

I can read on the primer end of the bullet is:

There is red marking around primer and where bullet seats in
casing. I know nothing about this ammo other than it was advertised by Keisler's in Shotgun news a 9mm NORMA 115Gr.FMJ.
I was told it was for 9mm Luger. For $89 a case, why not.
Naturally I don't want to damage my barrel and that is why I am trying to get some input if anyone has any. They also come on 36 round stripper clips in each box.

AJ, you're probably worried about nothing. If the ammo is military surplus, which the red moisture-proof sealer around the primers would indicate, the chance of it being a 100 grain +P+ round is slim and none. The standard NATO round is a 115 grain FMJ loaded to standard pressures to insure compatibility amongst NATO forces. However, some countries that issue a 9mm submachine gun have some higher pressure loads for these weapons. If you bought the 896 round case that was advertised in Keisler's, and I've seen that ammo also, I'm positive you bought an appropiate round for your handgun and not some overcharged carbine ammo. I'm going to see if I can find that listing on GunBroker and report back.

Just got off GunBroker. The Description lists a company called Norco as the manufacturer of the ammo in question.

Thanks for the encouragement. Since it was advertised as surplus 115gr FMJ and it doesn't seem any different than any other 9mm I've used, I am going to use it. Kiesler's told me that
I will have no problems using it in the P95 and the ammo is what they said it was NORMA 9mm. Today, it takes pretty long to damage a barrel of stainless steel with any kind of ammo as long
as your take care of your weapon and don't abuse it. I imagine
it would take many many rounds if it is the wrong stuff to do damage anyway. Not the 50 or so rounds I try to put through it in a week. Thanks for the information and encouragement.

I've never shot this stuff, but I've seen some around lately, incl. some 124 gr stuff.

I admit, I was interested, I mean it is NORMA after all. How often am I going to get to shoot Norma 9mm?

So far, all of this has been described as brass-cased, but BERDAN primed (shades of Radway Green). My interest cooled somewhat... I may still get some, but I NEED cases. I only have a single-stage so having more cases helps!

the 9MM SKPT M/41 ammo is jacketed steel core and it will burn up a barrel fast. It's armor piercing and can pierce a level II vest.

Sounds like it may be sub gun ammo which is not suppose to be used in handguns. I would make sure it is okay to use in any of my handguns before using.

I hope someone has the knowledge to shed some light on what exactly this Ammo is for, and what would be a fair price I should Sell it for.
