| Senior Member | Short barreled Thompsons
My nephew does WW2 re-enactments, this weekend passed they were in Rockford Il. and there was a State trooper there telling people that they couldn't possess Thompsons with a barrel less than 16 inches. It seems that some people have converted their semi auto Thompsons to short barreled rifles trying to look authenic. They were told to return their modified Thompsons to their vehicles. In my opinion they got lucky.

"There are thompson pistols, all right to make a rifle out of a pistol, but not a pistol out of a rifle." Not quite . . . he'd still need the longer barrel, unless he got the SBR stamp. Same with a Contender - put the buttstock on a short barrel - you get to visit Bubba in the big House.
