Reddot 22LR pistol hunting

Ill be a first timer with my Browning Buckmark 22LR semiauto pistol as far as hunting squirrel this fall. I find that off the bags I can hit a quarter easy at 25yds with the Reddot on it but with no gunrest that tiny reddot sure moves around alot. I open my left hand and place the palm under the pistol barrel fingers pointing forward like it was a stock on a rifle. Anybody shoot a reddot pistol like this to steady it??

Try a holographic sight instead of a red dot.

ive already taken ten this year with my buckmark, but of course we were using dog, on four of them. When im hunting from the ground I use the gun monopod, i bought it from walmart for about 15 bucks. But it works good to keep that red dot steady, and if you miss you always got atleast nine more shot on him.

Monopod for squirrels? I typcally shoot 45deg to 90degs. Are you talking Ground Squirrel? Around the South squirrel are usually seen in Oaks.

Yeah im talking about grey squirrel, I just use the monpod as a steady rest. You can adjust the height to what ever you need. Worked great for me so far. Because the way i ground hunt is to find a cliff or a hill that over looks a bottom filled with hardwoods. Gives me a level to lower shot. If your sittting against a tree and a squirrel comes up behine you just use the tree as a steady rest. Pistol hunting with a 22 is all about how steady you can keep you gun. IDK just the way my grandpa always told me to do it. Makes sense when you do it the right way
