Well after 14.5 years I had to put my buddy down who has always been on the left in my Sig. He was a tough one and out lived his litter of 6 after my wife argued for years to take his manhood away since the doctors told us he would probably die of cancer. I wouldnt have it and he was the only one surviving as they all past between 7 and 11 years old.
My kids are taking it as to be expected and I feel bad as I put him down and wonder how long he could have gone. He's up above hunting pheasants,,, or maybe buddies with them now hahahaha. Thanks for listening,,Rick B

I too am sorry for your loss and know the pain as well. It will in time pass and fond memories will remain. When you are ready start looking for a new one.
We had one that the kids got as a pair of poodle poms. We were told they had their shots, and not to worry. Well, we should have worried, as one morning, when the dogs were about 1 1/2 years old, my son came running and crying, "My dog is staring at the wall, and wont move!" I knew, it was distemper, and we got both dogs into the car as fast as we could. The vet confirmed my fears, and the one was lost, while I believe the other one was affected slightly.
The other one looked like a dust mop with a long tail, and was sort of mopy her whole life. She did live to the age of 18 1/2 years old, and for the last month of her life she would begin to lean on things. She would scratch to go outside, when she was let out, she would sniff the air, and scratch to come back in, where she would promptly take a dump. She really was lost and didn't know where she was. After a weekend with the kids, we took her to the vet and she knew it was time, because she didn't try to bite the vet, which she had always tried to do, even 6 weeks before.
