I have a Russian surplus computer made out of old Korean War MIG fighters with a cooling fin on top.

Black and white monitor that leaks radiation in a 25 ft radius...

I don't know the parameters of the CPU...but it's a Gateway Pentium and is about six years old. We run DSL to jump up it's operating speed. Last week we had a computer guy add an additional memory card and clean out some files, programs that we didnt' need that were really slowing down it's operation. Since then it's up to high speed operation again.

He suggested we needed a new computer and recommended another Gateway. However, my wife and I are thinking Dell is the way to go when the Gateway shoots craps. She runs programs needing to process lots of graphics and other office systems programs, including Microsoft Office applications, so it's got to have plenty of memory available for at least the next five years...if that's possible to project now. I run Microsoft spreadsheet files, graphics, and audio programs.

Our grandkids run lots of children's games...so we all have somewhat different needs.

i dont really know whats in this thing, but you've got to crank to get it started and sometimes 2 or 3 kicks to the side of the case seems to help.

Ox - if you are needing graphics editing you might want to look at possibly getting a macintosh.

I own 1 desktop I built...1 gateway laptop, 1 toshiba laptop - All have 1 gig of ram

On order I have a new macintosh

The server is a little different than normal servers. There is a 4 servers running each process the site takes to run. It's rather neat.
