Getting ready to go hunting

I finally got my big game license today, and I can't wait to go hunting this upcoming week! This will be my first time going deer hunting so wish me luck. I'm still debating on whether to take the Swedish Mauser, or the M44 Mosin Nagant. I have good hunting ammo for both of them, and I have all of the supplies that I am sure I will need. If I manage to get one I'll post some pics. I can hardly wait! Just the thought of venison jerky right now is making my mouth water.

First Hunt - that is cool!

All Right Dave!
The rules:
Very simple. Don't need to take notes.
They are......
No Deer. No Beer.
I was about 34 my first hunt. Took first deer, 7point, with the Swedish Mauser. A chest shot that sent rib fragments through the heart. Sucker stood up on back legs and fell over backwards. Dead.
Use the M44 if your close. Let the sectional density of the .311 works its magic.
Best of luck Dave. First Hunt. Waow!
Who is field dressing it? Find the joint/seperation in pelvic bone. work it with small knife. dont cut the poop or the P tube. Once that is open, slice way up to the throat. Cut the esophegus and pull it all out down to the and past the pelvis. Youll have some connective tissue at the lung and stomach cavity.
emm, pan sausage w/ pork and sage.

Talking

FMJ...you forgot to warn about cutting too close to the intestinal track. What happens then?
