Thank you. I really like that finish on the Mosin. I'll check that stuff out.

Smile Mineral spirits just for S and G

Just registered, first time in. Interesting site. About the mineral spirits, back in days of yore in the good ol USMC. At MCRD, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, 51 years ago, we had the trusty and lovable M1.
In MC bootcamp, there's no such thing as free time for 13 weeks. We spent "free time", rubbing the stock with mineral spirits. If we went to a "smoker", boxing match on Friday evening, we carried our stock with us and while watching the match would continuously rub the stock, never any glove or protection of any type. There were no chairs or seats in the quonset huts we lived in, and your were NEVER allowed to sit or lay on your rack (bed). Some evenings we'd sit outside on a bucket, we all had our own, practice field stripping the weapon and polish the stock.
The honor guard had beautiful stocks. As I recall, and it's been along time, they polished them with regular shoe polish. I've never tried it, might be worth trying. If not you could always remove it.
Please don't let Binder and Binder, the lawyers, know about this. I don't want to see their ad for a law suit if we were exposed to mineral spirits.LOL

Red face Oops on the mineral spirits

I just went out to stain some deck boards and had brain flattulance, it seems to be happening more often lately.
It was NOT mineral spirits, it was linseed oil we used on our stocks. I have checked the MSDS on that yet.
I'm sure Binder and Binder will.
