Just got my EMT cert.!!!

Finally, it has been a long journey, but I am now certified and not insane. I am a nationally certified EMT in the state of Arizona, just got it yesterday. I go to work next month for Southwest Ambulance. (Let's see if I have the nerves of steel it takes)

Good luck SKS. In some ways I wish I still worked at our Detention Center, as it sure made for some interesting days. However there was no way I could spend the next 5 years without a weekend off, my wife would have killed me. Do you carry on duty?

We don't get to carry, but we have the police on our side and if we tell them to restrain somebody they have to and if they shoot somebody it is their paperwork and not mine. Also, I have a big mag light and a metal ticket holder. It is going to be A LOT more money so I can start the gun collection I always wanted and finally take care of my family the way I want to. Plus, I will frequently get 6 days off in a row if I do 24 on 24 off.

Get out of the way, I am a motorist-Mr. Burns

Man, they must make a lot more out there then they do here. EMT's start out at like $7.50 an hour here.

They start out at 8.65 here and after 90 days it goes to 11.75. Doesn't sound like much, but then there is about 20 hours overtime per week and full benefits. When it is all said and done, the salary is around $38,000 a year for a rookie, which is not bad.

No its not. I think thats about what the postmen start at around here. Cops only start at $25,000 a year.

Congrats, SKS!

Though, you guys should think about getting into computer industry. Last job I had before quitting for school payed $15/hour, starting, for part time and $17.50/hour, starting, for full time. Admittedly, Cost-of-Living out here is pretty high, so that probably equals out to the same as lower wages elsewhere.
