When it comes to food items I am assuming these quantities are per person... Unless you are going to forsake your family.
My list includes most of the above with some additions:

Beef Jerky

.22 cal pistol or revolver with plenty of ammunition, most are light weight and very packable - I don't want to shoot a deer or cow for food as most of it will go to waste. Shoot rabbits or squirrels. They are easy to clean and handle.

Hand sanitizer
cigarettes - I don't smoke but they will likely make very valuable trade goods
Chewing tobacco - I do chew but it is not a necessity but could be to others - Good trade good

Feminine hygene products - Even if there are no women around they make great bandages

The main thing is try not to bug out. Unless absolutely necessary try to stay in familiar surroundings

I had a co-worker get stuck on the highway during a hurricane. She was in Panama City, where it was supposed to make landfall. She decides to set out for Tallahassee - way too late! So she and her disabled hubby are stuck in a logjam of cars between the two towns - fifty miles from anywhere. Wind and rain raging! Very stupid. She would have been perfectly safe having stayed at her kid's place in PC.
Either hit the road early - before the rush - or take an alternate route, preferably after the immediate disaster and the rush is gone.
You won't catch me on a paved road during an 'event'. I have plenty of off-road routes plotted, and a good off-road vehicle. Can't carry much, but I can get the heck outta Dodge! My BO Bag is geared towards that mission.

A motor cycle,a pedal bike,or ATVs are good for situations where roads are blocked,destroyed,and/or clogged.

GO JEEP!!!! Seriously, it will run if it's broken, flipped, bombed or shot. You can carry gear on the hood and in the back along with your family in the seats. Not to mention it has roll bars which make excellent rifle rests. =)

I used the moon roof on my Avalanch to shoot at coyotes. It got the nickname "Z71 Poacher Package". Gun turret moon roof, 3 power outlets for multiple spotlights, and electricly heated seats for those long, cold nights in the pasture!

Oh, then my dads F-250 should be called the "F250 Dog Decimator". In his truck as of now:Ac-Dc convertors, a cooler in the back, Sun roof, 4WD, chip, seat warmers, cup holders, Trace Adkins in the CD player, Sirius Satelitte radio, cattle guard, oh, and lets not forget the snicker bars!!!!

Some of you guys crack me up....IF there is a nuclear blast , especially if it is above the ground, your vehicles wont run, the computers will be all fried, electronic ignition wont work, and you are screwed. Only the old vehicles with points ignition will run if your batterys aren't toasted ! gas pumps aint gonna work either...Metal cans of food will be radioactive, Fallout will contaminate water reservoirs, the ground, trees, crops, etc. Communications equipment will be fried as will anything with transisters unless it is in a shielded Faraday cage when the blast goes off !
Some of you better rethink your plans!

I've got a '72 Ford Mustang and a '74 Ford Bronco. One reason I got them is exactly because of the reasons you listed.

Wow! Some of you sound as if there is no question of there being a future nuclear war. While I see the possibility I refuse to live my life on such a cynical level. Unless you live in a very remote place you probably wont live long anyway. Besides, I cant see making it from Texas to anywhere there isnt gonna be radiation if it does happen. I'll prepare for a natural disaster and keep on enjoying Tex-Mex and BBQ for the rest of my happy life. To those of you wearing foil hats: GOOD LUCK!

I have my doubts about EMP,and cans are good for stopping Alpha and Beta particles.
Normal non metal walls and roofs on houses do not conduct electricity well,and and surges of power from the outside lines can be stopped by circuit breakers and fuses.
EMP would only have a limited effect on batteries.
