I resently purchased this new mauser m24/47 and am attempting to figure its manufacturing date. I noticed in the yugoslavian crest engraved on it the number (29) two letters or numbers i can barly make them out i think they are (k 1) or (x 1) next is (1943).I dont know if 1943 is the year it was made or just when the factory began produceing them. The rifle also has russian writing as well as the bayonet. It also came with a small tin can with two medal caps on either uper side and it appers to be seperated in the middle forming two empty sides. On the outside of each there is a russian word both differant. Does any one have any info, very interested???????

The can is for cleaner/lube, one side for each.

True.It's just the date and year their party big wigs got together to draw up the commy country on paper. Sorta like our date of declaration in 1776.

These rifles are the best quality milsurp stuff i've had in my 10yrs of collecting.No stampings/all milled parts, very smooth bolts( have 4)quality surp ammo, which means cupronickel jackets and brass cases, buy the Hungarian heavy ball stuff(196gr)you'll be pleased before it's gone

I have a bluing question. My M48 and two other milsurplus guns that I have needed some TLC on the bluing. I have been polishing with Permablue trying to spiff up the metal finish. Nothing fancy mind you. I just rub it on once a month when I get motivated. It seems to help some. Short of sending them off to be parkerized or what ever, is this about all I can do to darken and improve the finish? Does Permablue need elbow grease to work better? Any tips would be appreciated.
