When I first starting watching this clip, naturally I got upset, seeing our men die. But then I got to thinking, they really arn't doing anything we wouldn't do if someone invaded us. If someone came on our soil, we would set up traps and ambushes, just as they are doing to us. For every soldier that dies in Iraq, the hate I have in my heart grows. It grows towards one man, our president. This war is complete bullsh!t. Can anyone give me an answer to why we are there? I mean really, why are our soldiers being killed? For who, the Iraqi people? A majority of them want us out, and can you blame them? Look at the money its costing us everyday. Look at how the worlds opinion of us has changed in the past few years. As soon as we leave Iraq, within two years it will be worse then before, and we'll have a new enemy to worry and wonder about.

Well, first we went there because Saddam had WMD's, remember? Remember "Saddam poses an 'Immenent Threat!' " Seems that Irans president has recently posed, threatened and created more of a danger toward the American people than Saddam EVER did. Yet, we do nothing about it. I want to know what the real reason was that we went there...it sure wasn't for any of the following reasons.

Then we were there to capture Saddam.

Then, we were there to free the oppressed.

Then, we were there to spread Democracy.

Then, we were there to build an Oil Pipeline through poor peoples' villages and land.

Then, we were there to take care of the "insurgents." (aren't most of the fighters there Iraqi? To me, "insurgent" insinuates 'outsider coming in')

Then, we were there to spread Democracy again.

Then we were there because we didn't want to look like sissies backing down from a war that we can not win handling it the way we are.

Then, we were there to keep a Civil War from breaking out.

But, then, it was "never really close to being a civil war."

Then, we were there to find the "terrorist" leaders.

Then we were there, yet again, because we didn't want to look like sissies backing down from a war that we can not win handling it the way we are.

Then, we were there to show the Iraqi people we will not leave them. (yea, I be that sits well with all of them.)

Then, we were there to train Iraqi forces.

Now, we are there to help the Iraqi government.

Now, we are there to "change the course."

Hmm, and who ever said Bush never changed his direction in Iraq? LOL...too bad it was just words to feed the "current" anger of the Iraqi and American public. You know what they are going to do. They are going to string it out to the point where a democrat will become president then Bush, his Cronies and Limbaaa--rf (ahem, Limbaugh) can blame everything on the democrats.

This video makes me sick and pissed at the Terrorists that pissed us off to begin with and pissed at Bush and his cronies for handling the 9/11 attacks in this fasion. We get hit on 9/11. What is Bush's response? "Hmm, well...what towel head country would be the easiest and least resistant to invasion just so I can beat my chest like a horny gorilla?" ... "Oh! Iraq...they have been under the gun for nearly 1.5 decades...they can't stand to pose much of a resistance. We'll go there Jim Bob."

You did not think at all. You are repeating antiwar propaganda slogans you heard on tv almost ver batim to what I have heard on tv shows like Jon Stewarts. We have tvs too you know? You are saying you thought about the war when you have done just the opposite. You have avoided all thought and have done little reading if any.

The insurgency is coming from outside of Iraq. The training and know how to make IED's is coming from outside Iraq. For example: Al-Zarqawi isn't an Iraqi; he is Jordanian. You're not reading the news at all.

I don't usually back down from a political squabble

But on this thread, how about we stick to thinking about the troops who are shown getting hit?

I am amazed at how much pride they take in their cowardly fighting of this war.

Cool

One last response to this subject.
As Pred said,it's all BS.
We are there because of Israel and Bush's advisers and big money.
Todays Bush's approval rating is 24%.
Crazyivan did a good job of recording details.
I think that about covers it.

Every one knows that this wasn't your intentions. We should keep a course in this thread. But in this forum anything posted about our troops is gonna have someone anger it up about bush. It happens all the time.

That video was pretty disturbing. But if you go to Military.com and watch their videos (its free) we are kicking !!! even more in there. Saw one where an AC-130 kicks !!! from 30000 feet. They blew up in IED factory I think. And even got the stragglers runnin away.

Zen, throughout the history of this country, I've had a member of my family serve in every major war we've been though. We've traced it back to the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, the Civil War, WWI, WWII, Korean War, Vietnam, Desert Storm and Shield, and the current war on terror. My uncle also traced our roots and found we had a relative on the Mayflower when it landed. I'm probably one of a handful of people who can claim that my blood has been in this country from the beginning. I really don't watch much TV, specifically the news. What I wrote is what I feel, not what I've read or heard. The United States has no business being in Iraq. Afghanistan was different, and the entire world stood behind us. Over the past few years, as Ivan wrote, our government, specifically our president, has lied to every citizen in this country concerning the war on terror and our reasons for being in Iraq. These men are dying, not for freedom or democracy, but to cover Bush's rump. With each passing day, more and more of the Iraqi people begin to hate us, because the Iraqi people are dying because of us. For example, take Iran and Syria. Both countries now want to help stop the violence in Iraq. And what did Bush say? Only if they suspend their nuclear program. Once again Bush has put Israel's(yes Israel, not our) agenda before the Iraqi people. How do you think they will take this news? The US has turned their country into a warzone, much worse then before. And now, Iran and Syria want to help, but we look out for others first, yet we wont leave and put an end to their suffering. As soon as we leave, we will have a new enemy in Iraq, because of our president. Now don't get me wrong, I support our troops as much as anyone. I hated watching this video, because the reasons their dying are not the same as the men who fought before them. In the Revolutionary war they fought and died for something, for freedom. The same in 1812, and the Civil War was fought for a way of life. Our grandfathers died in WWII because we were attacked by a country, not a group or a religion. They died to bring freedom back to millions of people, to free an entire continent. Right now, the UK is the only country that supports us, and even that is starting to disappear. Are we really so headstrong that we think the entire planet is wrong except for us? Because thats what its turned into. Agree with me or not, this is what I believe. I don't support the men who are killing our troops, or do I support the countries and the people who hate us in the Middle East. But as time goes on, I'm starting to understand more and more why they feel that way. Not saying its right, just saying I'm starting to see why the world is turning against us. America has become a "police" force for the world, even if they don't want it, we still do as we please. It's time our government worry about things at home, its time for our president to bring our men home. To put an end to OUR suffering, to OUR deaths. I'm growing tired of seeing those transports land, only to unload caskets with an American flag on top of them.

7mm, yes, you are old , but it's no easier to watch those troops die for me, then it is for you. Each of those troops could have been a father, a mother, a brother or a sister. But we know each one of them were someones friend. While I've never been in combat, been in war, I can try to imagine what it would be like. From listening to my grandfather tell his stories of coming up from North Africa, Sicily, Italy, France and Germany. Or be it my grandfathers best friend who was one of the first off the boats at Normandy, god rest his soul. Or my father talking about F4's taking off, coming back in low and dropping napalm at the end of the runway, watching the enemy getting blown apart. Whenever I see a man or women in uniform, I get a sense of pride, as I've just run into a hero. I just wish for once our president would put someone besides himself and his buddies first. Bring those troops home, get them out of a place that we shouldn't be. Bring those fathers, mothers, brothers and sisters home. Let them have peace.
