| Disappointed with Lyman's customer service I have a Lyman Universal case trimmer and the plastic/vinyl/whatever synthetic bushing inside the housing in which the shaft rotates is shot. It gradually slides out as the shaft is pulled back and it's chipping from the times I have taken a block of wood and tapped it back into place. That process, in itself, is a pain in the buttinsky. Yetserday, I called Lyman's 800 number during their 'open' hours and after making my number 3 selection to speak with representative it rang for, what seemed like, forever with no answer. I never got to speak with anyone yesterday. That happened twice. I hung up both times. Today I was again put on that long "oh,crap...it's gonna be a long day" series of ringing with no answer. An hour later I tried again and got to speak with "Jim". I explained the problem and he said I had to send the entire trimmer back...at MY cost...for them to "look" at. It would be three weeks before I knew anything. I explained I knew what was wrong and asked him to just send me the bushing and I would put it in. Nope! He said they can't do that and he, or someone, had to look at it first to see if they could repair it. I asked, what if they couldn't repair it and he said, since it was past the one year warranty I was pretty much outta luck. I said they were outta luck. My next investment is a power trimmer from RCBS. At least with them I know I will get good custoemr service. Just letting everyone know about Lyman's customer service.....or the lack of....in case anyone is considering buying a product from them.

| RCBS or Dillon is the only way to fly with reloading equipment. |

| i thought you could buy spare parts for Lyman products online. Seems like I remember seeing that before. I'm not sure about your specific part but I do recall seeing it online. and as a current owner of a retail store...try not to !!!! the entire company to retail !!!! because of one bad customer service rep. every company has its duds, you just need to find one that knows what he's doing. :-) |

| I had a somewhat similar experience with Lyman a few years back when I was looking for a 12 gauge roll crimper. Called Lyman and must have talked to the same "Jim" you did. Kinda felt like I was interrupting his lunch break rather than trying to spend money with his company. On the other side of all this, Leupold scopes, Buck knives, and Moultrie Feeders have done some OUTSTANDING customer service for me... DALE: I have to ask: where, exactly, is Too Dang Hot?? Somewere between Lochiel and Duquesne? Dennis |

Ironically, I was discussing my problem with Lyman to a fellow I know at a local gun shop and he said he had the same Lyman trimmer and HIS bushing went to crap. He stated he had to send his in, just as Lyman said I would have to mine, and he said he got it back with a note it was fixed. But....it wasn't. He said it was just as sloppy as before he sent it in. I'm looking at a Forster he recommended. Quote:
Seriously, Too Dang Hot is MY reference to my homestead. I don't live in a town, per se, so I refer to my little spot on this Earth as Too Dang Hot.

| I absolutly refuse to have anything to do with Lyman after a similar situation several years ago. At the time I had the Orange Chrusher press, the stop on the toggle block had broken off. When I called them(Three calls for me) the idiot on the phone told me to just drill and tap it for a stopbolt. I told him I wanted to buy a new toggle at my expense, and wasn't interested in repairing the old one because the location of a drilled hole would weaken the back of the toggle near the ram piviot. The idiot hung up on me. I gave that press away to a buddy of mine and taught him how to use it without the stop( it can be done and I did for quite a while). I Bought a Redding Ultra Mag and swore off lyman forever.
