I wouldn't call him 'great', but he was a good one. I would have liked to see what he might have accomplished if he'd won a full term. He never had the chance to show his full potential.
RIP, Mr. Ford.

Due to him taking over after Nixon his own party didnt back him.Today, due to a media-hollywood-secular progressive prpoaganda blitz and outright lies and a middle of the road republican congress that didnt know what they believed and ran congress for votes instead of the good of the nation,we have a verry great president who doesnt get the support of his party.Bush didnt loose the mid-term election,s,The middle of the road republican,s did.I wish gun owners good luck with the liberals in power. All ready they are going to cut funding and restrictions on the border invasion. samuel.

Right, Sam

It's all "due to a media-hollywood-secular progressive prpoaganda blitz and outright lies and a middle of the road republican congress....'

It couldn't possibly have anything to to do what Bush has actually done, could it?

You forgot to say that it's all Clinton's fault anyway.

If it werent for jerked over democrats running as republicans when they dont really dont stand for anything but their own power grab and only cared about the next election Bush wouldnt look stupid and the democrats wouldnt have won.But that isnt all bad,we got several pro-second ammendment democrats. If they keep their campain promises we should be okay. samuel.

Cool

We all know that political promises are made to be broken, don't mean a thing, although as we grow more desperate we really wish they did.
ALL of the folks in office are trying to keep/gain power and stay in office, don't think there are many good guys,if they are they will be weeded out and destroyed if they don't compromise/kneel to the old power.

By all accounts, he was a decent man

He lived out here in the Coachella Valley near Palm Springs, and was well-liked.

I personally think he did the right thing pardoning Nixon; it was time for the country to get on with business instead of sitting and contemplating its own navel. A trial would've brought everything else to a standstill until it was over.

Thumbs up

Ex president Gerald Ford was an honorable man. His career ending service to the United States followed troubled times in our government. Ford's full career should be considered for his legacy, not just selected portions.

It's amazing how a thread and posts about a decent man can go south real quick when a certain few get on their bashing soap boxes.

And they wonder why they lose credability. Yepper....fer sure.

Talking

Samuel...pouting in the corner isn't allowed. You have the priviledge of speaking your piece, and the obligation to be as accurate as you know possible.

Ford was a fine man. You are too partisan to realize. I listened to him in person twice. He was a solid American with traditional values and a greatly underestimated intellect. Listening to a former president in his eighties discuss world history without partisanship was an event I shall treasure till I die. He was also aware when he was president that he was not an elected president. He took that into account in his leadership descisions which is something few men could do. I did not want Nixon or Clinton impeached. Congress shouldn't tell us who our president should be. The people select the president. Ford reaffirmed that right we have as citizens of the United States.

It's all relative anyway.....

Look at JFK. To many today he's looked upon as the patron saint of liberalism. In reality he was a fiscal conservative and was not that hung up on civil rights as the uneducated would have us believe.

Al Gore was an A+ rating by the NRA when he was a congressman. The he became VP and went all the way to an F.

Ronald Regan favored the Brady Bill.

George W. said he would have signed an extension of the Brady Bill had it been brough to him.

ALL POLITICIANS ARE SCUM. ALL POLITICIANS WILL SELL YOU OUT.

It doesn't matter if you're on the left, right or in the middle. The name of the game is power. It's always been that way and will never change.

Those who get voted out have still got a buttload of contacts and go back to Washington as a lobbyist getting paid in the 6 and 7 figures.

Until politicians become fearful for their lives, this process will never change.

You know the differance between a scumbag and a real scumbag?

If a scumbag were on a sinking ship, he'd get into a lifeboat before YOUR mother. A real scumbag would get into a lifeboat before HIS OWN MOTHER.

Politicians are REAL scumbags.

The only thing lower than a politician is a child molester.
