Question Rifle identification question

Just got off the Chat feature and wasn't able to answer completely a question asked by "New to Guns", a person who has just now registered for G&G. Does anyone have a good guess on what this rifle is? I wasn't able to make the identificaton.

So here's the identifying information as he related it to me:

-Symols 30-06
-Wood stock..thinks it's cherry...with fair finish on it
-Said barrel was blued.
-Symbols on upper part of barrel: two circles with an Eagle...and the letters KBS
-Has scope...with numbers 2 3/4 and 42 and it has two adjustment knobs
-Serial Number is 32745
-Thinks it was mfgd. around 1950???

Ok...It's obviously a 30-06 caliber...with an adjustable 2 3/4 x scope and .45mm objective dia. lenses.

I'm guessing it could be a pre-heat treatment made 03A3...but the eagle with the letters "KBS" may be the best key to the manufacturer and type of gun.

Sounds like a Mauser variation to me , but without pics to look at it could be anything...a Gustaf, an Argentine, need more input !

Seems to me that someone recently indicated that the eagle cartouche was an I.D. for a certain made rifle...but I've forgotten what was said exactly.

Is it possibly a Garand?

A quick google search only turned up the Polish AK variant under that 'KBS' designation. I'm betting your rifle is a commercial Mauser variant. KBS could have been the importer or vendor that sold it.

need a picture -- who know might be a sporterized rifle built by a smith -- but a picture of an action would be a start

Lightbulb

I believe KBS was an importer. Sounds like a Mauser (Mouser)!

Thanks for everyone's comments. Maybe "New To Guns" will find more identifying features which will help solve this mystery.

However, I would bet you guys are right in that it's a possibility of being a Mauser...that has been sportorized.
