Hey...I live in Gladstone, MO, not far from your home. I just checked Mapquest and saw the general area where you live. Just give me a P.M. and I'll give you my phone number and email and maybe we can schedule for you to visit my home and check out that motor. It needs a new home for sure, and I need the space it's now taking.

I've sent you an email so I'm waiting to hear back from you. Hope we can make a deal for your son.
Decided to keep both anchors on board for a while in case they're needed. However, by letting out just one anchor rope so it's hanging at about a 45 Degree angle, I'm predicting the the boat won't drift much, if any.
The 1948, 2 stroke, 4 cylinder, 5.5 h.p. Evinrude outboard motor is still available for sale for $200. Oil mixture is 16-1. It ran just fine all of last summer. Bought a new 15 H.P. Nissan 4 stroke motor, so this one's for sale. It would still be a great motor for a John boat or a 14-16 ft aluminum fishing boat.
wished i had known about this when i had my 17ft bowrider(was using it as fishing boat since the 225 johnson went kershplat)....lols....picture a 5.5 on a bowrider
Morgan, Years ago I used to collect model outboard engines and ran an ad in a local paper.
A guy called and said he had an Evinrude Zephyr for sale but it was not a model engine.
I happened to know a guy who collected Evinrude and Johnson outboards so I passed the info on to him. When he told me he got the Zephyr for ten bucks I was kicking my self for not asking the guy what he wanted for it.
The collector also told me it was in like-new condition. Aarrrggghhhh.
Best things I ever found was at a junk yard it was a Martin 60, got it running looked good, evenrude flatback 15 horse looked up but looks cool and about 4 eskas. I think some one musta cleaned out there shed I paid scrape cost 30 bucks all but one of the easka ran well ran like an eska
only outboards I've used were the V6 johnson/evinrudes....they are long lasting engines, and the power curve is awesome........inboard engines have all been mercury....love the 4cyl mercury motors, they have enormous torque....only thing I've noticed in my boats is the 200hp mercruisers tend to bog some if if do a quick 180* turn, and they'll jump down by 2000rpms if i pull a 360*....maybe has something to do with their fuel system.
Here's a few views of my Evinrude outboard motor mentioned above. I'd sure like to see someone make me an offer. I'm thinking around $150 plus shipping would be a good price.
Got it stored inside my shop and I need the space it's taking up badly. This makes two summers it's been on the motor stand, but it ran the last time I tried it. The gas tank needs to be taken off so the fuel line coupling underneath can be tightened up. Screws for removing the tank are easily accessible...but I just haven't gotten around to doing that job.
It's still for sale...but shipping freight costs are on the buyer. I'll be glad to crate it up and take it to Fed Ex...or whoever you want it shipped by.
