Both of these blankets would just about knock you down from the mothball smell. However a good wash in cold water with some woolite, and hang to dry outside for the day took the smell right out. Both blankets are very well made, both are very heavy(at least 5lbs each), and both feel like they could keep you warm come the next ice age. For both would set you back less then $30, and work great in the corner of your trunk.
I have 4, keep one in each of the vehicles and two in the 5th wheel. Good for those cold nights in front of a camp fire or snuggl'n with my holy beaver!

I bought one of the Italian blankets and a German Blanket. The German is nice but short. The Italian, I turned into a capote like jacket and am going to order several more to boot (at least 3.)
Wally's has the twin-sized quilted blankets for a good price. I use one for camping, as I don't like the confining sleeping bags - I move around too much. The twin in a tent is perfect! Keeps me warm in thirties temps too.
It compresses very nicely in a compression sack.
I bought two of the italian wool blankets when they were next to nothing. Awesome Quality very warm, stink like mothballs at first but after that, great wool blanket.

Besides two wool blankets I also keep a couple of Wally world fleece throws in the trunk. They are 40x80 and very warm. They sell for like 5 bucks apiece.
