Dumbest thing i ever saw happened twice at the range I shoot at. Once I was down range when someone shot. I did not get to speak to him because he was invited to leave at the gunpoint of another shooter there. Said he was going to get the law to come out and arrest the guy for pointing a gun at him.(didn't happen) Another time two idiots came out, one had set up the target and was walking back and his "buddy" shot past him on his way back to the bench. They were asked to leave by four of us and did so, because they could tell we meant business.

Did you have to change your drawers TF? That's not an easy feeling to deal with.

There were some guys shooting in Bisley (before the handgun ban), I cant remember what the piece was but the barrel was about 11" and they were refering to the shells as "Luger Ticklers".. Some of the skiled guys were shooting plates from the Hip and some young guy said he wanted to try...

..He fired with one hand, smashed him self in the face (breaking his nose) and smacking the piece on the bar over the top of the range.. Bloody everywhere!

Nobody gave a shite about him they were more concerned about the fact he could have damaged the barrel on the metal bar lol!

Overherd at gun show. One gangster was telling his bud that the revolver they were looking at would hold 7 rounds. 6 in the cylinder and one in the barrel.

A few years ago I had a fella walk into the shop with a model70 Winchester 30-06 , blow all to heck. The barrel looked like it was a tripod, stock all messed up.. When I ask him what happen he said " he was bore sighting it and forgot to take the bore sight out of the barrel before he shot it in.". Got say one thing for Winchester the action was unhurt.. I was always told " God takes care of a Dummy...... :-) Cheers, MM

luckily i live near a small town and there are few days that anyone else is at my clubs range. yesterday i brought 9 assorted rifles and pistols ,spread em out and loaded every one, before i started firing. it was a pleasant day. i did see one other person and he went over to the cowboyshooting section, so i didnt even have to see him unless i wanted someone to talk to. if someone did happen to come to shoot, i wouldve observed the proper safety precautions.heres a photo of the maddening hordes at my range (thats my white truck if you cant pick it out from the crowd)

The outdoor rifle range I go to in Westchester(35 min north of NYC) is pretty strict with their range rules, and they always have at least 2 range officers. Aside from the usual common sense safety rules about always pointing the barrel down range in a safe direction, etc.... they also require the action open, and magazine removed unless firing. They also only allow you to fire 1 round at a time(I guess the surrounding homeowners get nervous that there's automatic weapons if everybody is rapid firing at the same time). Anyway, the range is usually not too busy when it isn't hunting season. So, I was there with my friend and we were at adjacent shooting positions. We were the only ones there at the time. Two middle eastern gentlemen, about 30 yrs old showed up, with two very good looking middle eastern women. It was appearant that one had been to the range before, and was well aware of the rules. The other guy, not so much. They were just up the firing line from us, and placing their rifles on their respective benches.(mini-14, and an sks). Next thing I see out of the corner of my eye, is the new guy posing with the sks, 30 round mag in, with the barrel pointed in our general direction. Major pucker factor. I guess he was trying to impress the ladies. Anyway, his friend, the experienced one, started yelling at him in arabic, and the 2 range officers swarmed. Needless to say, they were asked to leave.

I watched a kid trying to load a M203 grenade launcher like it was a muzzleloader. Apparently he forgot his training on that weapon. National Guardsmen and firearms scare me.

I was squirrel hunting with my dad when I was a kid and we chased it into a small hollow tree. My dad went up to get a stick to scare it out. The squirrel jumped out of a top hole and my dad ran out of the way when he saw me take aim. I hit the squirrel in the head at close range with bird shot from a 20 gauge break barrel shotgun. Needless to say, the squirrel had no head. My dad needed new underwear.

I watched some drunks shooting at an empty 20lb propane tank with a .45 from about 15 yards. I kept telling them it was stupid as I retreated to the cabin. They hit it several times, but just dented it. Someone pulled out an SKS. Dont ever think those tanks are empty when they're empty!

I was at the indoor range, a REALLY attractive girl was there in the foyer. As I signed in, I noticed she was a section 51, no licence, just there to have a supervised go at shooting. She was stunning, very feminine.. As I was getting my gear together and visualising her naked, the range officer Glen said: " okay, I`ll just get your targets, and we can go into the range proper " Then smiling sweetly she said: " do you have any targets with pictures of people on them?

Glen said " regretabley, no we are not permitted to do that "

I beleive I would have come up with something, if I had of been in Glens shoes.

Not permitted to have targets with pictures of people on them?

Jeez; they HAVE convinced your countrymen that guns are evil, haven't they?

What if you put burglar's masks on them?

I`m not terribley sure if `people` targets are readily accepted at all ranges in America.

When you apply to own a gun here, you must supply a vaild reason, trget shooting, vermin control etc.. Self defence isnt accepted.

I don`t feel to bad, I have never felt the need to own a gun for self defence, I own them becuase I like them

I would consider self defense the single most valid reason for the existence of civilian guns. Everything else is just playing with them. Which is good too; don't get me wrong. I do more than my share of playing.

I haven't pointed a weapon at another person since the Vietnam War. Hopefully I'll never have to.

But if I find an intruder in my home, I don't plan to tell him, "you're in big trouble now, mister. The cops will be here to avenge me and/or my wife and children anywhere from ten minutes to ten hours from now, assuming you left the phone lines intact or you give me time to dial 911 on my cell phone (and get put on hold because 911 on a cell phone goes to the California Highway Patrol instead of the emergency center)..."

I've been to a couple of civilian ranges, in the area, but shoot almost entirely on the "sportsman's range"" (for lack of a better word) on Ft Lewis. None of those ranges allow "people" targets. And that includes human form outlines. BUT, get this...We staple our bullseye targets to a standard military human shape target. Go figger!!! Political correctness is ruining this country.
