I guess I'm farther behind the times than I thought I was. Think I'll stay there; the gun stores around here still sell scored silhouette targets...

I joined a gunclub about a year ago, decided one time to take my Cobray M11 9mm. It has a fake silencer(barrel extension), so I start loading the mags (30rd) so called range supervisor comes over and says "You cant have a UZI with a silencer, thats illigal" I told him "NO" this is not an UZI and this is NOT a silencer. Regardless of what I said he thought it was an illigal fullauto firearm. I even told him to take it apart and show me the autosear, he had no idea what I was talking about and told me to leave.
Next week when I went back he told me I couldnt bring back my TEC-9

Would a Handgranade fall into this?
when i was in basic training for the army we were sent out one day to train on throwing the Granada and a live fire at the end of it.
well one guy, he must have been nerves out on the range because he threw that thing straight up and it came straight down into the little bunker there in, the drill SGT picked it up and dropped it over the edge of the bunker, good thing that guy couldent throw hard so it didnt go very high, and i dont remember seeing that drill SGT after that, "scratches chin".

Rabidpitweasel, I wonder what he would say about my .50 BMG Rifle...
"You can't have Artillery pieces here"...What a crock. I would take my complaint to the board of directors of the Gun Club and Especially note that the Range Officer is an Idiot if he doesn't know the difference in legal weapons!
What if you had a Registered Machine gun ? Shooting ranges are just for that...SHOOTING.
God I'm glad I live in Alaska !

The range is in the basement of the police station and the guy figured that having a "fullauto" wasnt a good idea with cops upstairs. Smalltown small minds is what it comes to I guess. |

I was in Bosnia in 96. Saw this Major female engineer officer approach the entrance to the 1AD Command Post as I was exiting. She went to the weapons clearing barrel, pulled her pistol, pulled the slide back, out pops a round, lets the slide go, now the pistol is in battery. She pulls the trigger and guess what....POW. She goes through all of these steps again....POW. She almost got the third round fired but my First Sergeant grabbed the pistol from her and explained that you had to drop the magazine first in this entire operation of clearing the pistol. She never got punished but should have received a General Officer Letter of Reprimand at a minimum or an Article 15 if I could have had anything to do with it.

After reading all the post I have to consider myself lucky that I have never witnessed anything like them. The only thing that I have witnessed was not based in stupidity, but ignorance.
I was debating the pros and cons of hunting with and SKS. My opponent was the gentleman teaching the winter survival basics to my son’s hunter’s education class. Hands down he was an expert in that area and many others. However he informed me that if I chose to hunt with an SKS that I might be disappointed. He then suggested that I try an AK 47 as it had more stopping power. I smiled politely and said that I would take it into consideration. Another gentleman who was there to teach firearm safety grinned and turned to walk away.
