i just purchased a xd 40 cal 4 inch model, what if any is the difference in accuracy, etc associated between a 4 inch and 5 inch model,

The 5 in. will generally be a bit more accurate due to the longer sight radius and will shoot just a fraction flatter at longer ranges due to a slight velocity increase.

IMHO, the one inch difference is minor. What you gain with the shorter barrel, though, is a little more concealable gun, especially for CCW purposes.

The accuracy increase isn't so much about ballistics as it is about a longer site radius.

true, but that vs concealment? I guess it all depends on what you are using it for.
