interesting news from England

found out yesterday from the MP's on base that as an american in England you acutally can own firearms, not only shotguns, but rifles, pistols, smg's if you got em. Here's what I found out. You can store them on either the base armory, or store them at the range thats about 10 min. from Mildenhall RAF. So if for any reason anybody here on this website in the mmilitary gets sent to England like I did, you can own guns. In the near future ( meaning in about a few weeks) I'm gonna get mine over here.

Question

Next question is can you "carry" them legally beyond military grounds (off base)?

I don't think you can carry in the same sense we can here.

You might want to do a little more research than just asking some cops.

you can store your guns at the base armory, which is connected with the Mp's office, Or store them at the range.

When my brother was in Germany (Army) they had the same arrangement. He opted not to bring guns over, but bought there. He has a nice Sig & HK without the import markings on them, as well as others.
It might be a good idea to get something in writing, get a copy of the base OI, reg or whatever governs it. A good shirt should be able to help with that.

The only negative thing I have heard is that while your weapons reside in the armory, other people, ie. the security forces that work there have access to them. Iv'e heard stories of scratched guns, guns shot and put away dirty etc. Worst part, nothing can be done about it.

Good luck
