Oh, I got a new(well to me) AK mag a few weeks ago. My Dad has had this AK mag one of his Marine buddies got over in Vietnam. He got it off a dead soldier, probably one he killed. A little rusty, but still has the original ammo in it. Pretty cool. Looks a lot like a German made mag with the ridge along the back of it.

MAK-90's aren't a bad start.

If you can bite the spending bug you should save and get a bulgarian like Joe recommended. They are worth it for sure.

A Yugo under folder is a nice way to go too. Should cost you between $450-$500 for a new one.

A SAR is more valuable than a WASR. They were always able to take double stack mags and have had at least as good reports by owners.

Double stack WASRs are modifications of sporterized AKs. SARs are more authentic to the AK design.

I believe the WASR's were originally made to accept only 10rd. mags, then some of the metal removed in the mag. well to take the 30 rounders. The SAR should be fine if you got one that the front sight and/or gas tube isn't canted.
