Rohm was a German manufacturer of cheap firearms that went out of business in the 60's. Most of thier guns were saturday night specials. They are of low quality and do not have much value as collectors.

The only gun I have ever seen explode was an RG .44 mag like yours, the shooter pulled the trigger and the gun flew apart!!! I would keep it as a family heirloom but I wouldn't shoot it very much.

One way to possibly shoot it but keep pressures down would be fire only 44 Specials in it and possibly handload them with black powder only.

Bad advice. Do Not Shoot It! That is the good advice here!

Years ago I had the RG57 in .357 Magnum - it was an okay gun. Never bobbled, nothing loosened, even shooting factory .357 loads. Reasonable accuracy for a fixed sight revolver. I mostly shot .38 in it though. Certainly not on a par with a Colt, Smith or Ruger, but not a bad gun. Have a good (unbiased) gunsmith check it before shooting. I sold mine after hearing the scare stories of flame-cutting of the top strap - never saw a sign of this on the gun though. The frame is alloy though - that scares many people - especially in a magnum handgun.
