10/22 Trigger

I searched and I really couldn't find what I was after, so....
I'm looking for the most inexpensive route I can go to get the trigger pull down to where it should be.. 2 - 2.5 lbs. or so..

Remember.. INEXPENSIVE

I've read here about changing the hammer, but I'm looking for specifics as far as who's aftermarket stuff works and such..

I'm open to suggestions..

I've been without a 10/22, and all Ruger products for a long time due to Ruger's old insurance habit of not insuring their own employees if they were one of those EVIL motorcycle riders. That's been solved by Ruger a while back, and I recently picked up a dandy used 10/22 at a very good price.
I've slapped on a Weaver scope mount and am using full size rings and a nice Bushnell 4-12x40 scope, but the trigger pull is pretty close to that of my Mosin Nagant's pull, not that of a quality .22..

So... Fire away!!!

Well I can answer that..........halfway. I replaced the hammer AND sear in my 10/22 but I could have gotten the trigger pull at 2.5lbs by just replacing one not both. I think it's just the hammer by itself that will get you exactly what you want but now I can't remember. The Hammer runs $30 at Power Custom and other sites. I don't think I needed to change the sear to lower the pull.

either a power custom or volquartsen hammer will get you what you want. you dont need a sear, or to change out the factory springs.

The Power Custom Sear/Hammer set came with springs galore. I changed them all out but I'm not sure if I needed to do so. My 10/22 cycled fine. I just wanted the lower pull.osCommerce

Thumbs up

Usually the pull weight is determined by not only the trigger but also the spring tension. I would get a lighter spring as well as a trigger.

I did a bunch of searching last night and that's pretty much what I found. The sear has a big notch and you basically have to pull it uphill to get it out of the notch, where the aftermarket hammers have taken car of this for you..

Looks like $25 for a hammer and maybe $6 for a cushion while I'm at it..

Thanks guys!!!

i will reiterate, there is no need to change springs in the 10/22. i can put a sub 2# trigger pull on a 10/22 without using any aftermarket parts. the hammer spring affects the functioning of the rifle- ruger has it pretty well figured out- dont mess with it!

All you need is a hammer..period....and I own one of the few gun stores for 10/22's that WOn't try and sell you everything under the sun.
I have both volquartsen and power customs hammers at CheapGunParts.Com and both are pretty much equal....volquartsens are a little more expensive. I like the feel of the power customs better myself.

if you need any help at all check out <% TITLE %> which is our other site...it has over 100 photos that will show you EVERYTHING you need to know to tear it down, add parts and put it back togather..clean it..etc.
