| I've had beaver, and it was fine. Back years ago, the Northern IL Fur Takers had a convention near me.. One of the things they were selling was BBQ Beaver sandwiches. Of course, it just tasted like BBQ.. Maybe we need a topic covering odd foods we've eaten over the years??

nothing wrong with trapping. alot of trappers dont care for me though, as i kinda like to put lots of holes in muskrats (#8 trap loads dont always kill 'em - even at close range).

Welcome to the site. I'm not sure how many trappers we have on the site, but I welcome you none the less. I once did it when I was younger at camp...but I haven't since.

tbonecpk... Minnesota has the largest population of fur bearers and the highest fur harvest in the U.S.,the closest to ya'll is Lousisana..ya'll are neck and neck.... youre settin on a goldmine..ya might wanna look into it, and they dont allow out of state trappers either..so ya'll got it all to yourselves |

Theyre probably goin to NAFA a fur auction house in Canada..thats where i send mine too...and yourr right you get close to double what a country buyer will pay, but you have more work udually cause a country buyer will buy green and put it up most of the time, but they also will buy put up fur, but the moneys in Canada... the one advantage of a country buyer is you get your money right then and dont have commisions or have to wait for your check |

When my mother was a tyke in the 'twenties she adored her big brother, and she used to get up and follow him around on his trap lines. Sixty years and more later it still brought a smile to her, remembering and telling me how patient he was about dragging a little girl with him thru the darkness of Missouri. |

Prettykitty you are a pimp as far as i am concerned. I leanered in the military but what I learned will get you arrested real quick in civilian life. We used snares, which of course are highly illegal almost anywhere in any state. There is a reason for this of course, because it works so well. I haven't done any trapping/snaring since then of course, cause I like my freedom. But had alot of fun and ate very well for being out in the boonies for so long! We would have starved if not for learning that trade/craft! I'd rather thrive than just survive!! Thanks Ranger Rick!
