Juneau_Craig...Thanks for the reminder of the vacation my wife and I had when we visited your great state. About eight years ago we visited the SE part of Alaska and floated the Mendenhall Lake and on down the falls. DxxM! That water was cold (ha).
To get the full Alaskan experience we chose the front seat of the huge rubber raft for our float adventure and had to hold on for dear life. Found out that the icy cold and milky looking glacial water, filled with suspended sediment, was more than enough to know we were alive. Several times on our descent down the fast Mendenhall River, with plenty of salomn trying to swim upstream, we were submerged...to the delight of those wiser and screaming tourists sitting behind us. That raft managed to stay afloat no matter how deep the front dipped and how high the back of the raft whipped up.
To nobody's surprise, when we reached our point of destination, pictures of our raft and of us crazy tourists were posted on a wall ready for purchasing(ha). That's just another example of good old American entrepreneurship.
