Ku Klux Klan Rebounds With New Focus On Immigration, ADL Reports
When a person is backed into a corner, chances are they will come up fighting. Is this whats happening here? I believe this rebound in membership can be attributed to nothing more then frustration. Many Americans, specifically whites, are getting to a point of no return when it comes to immigration. I think people are tired of being branded a racist when they object to the flood of illegals coming across the border, and the KKK has now become their knight in shining armor, so to speak. If your going to be called a racist, at least be around those who feel the same way you do. Wont belittle you? So, who is really to blame for this? The illegals? The people? The government? In the 1930's Hitler was able to gain support of an entire nation. After WWI, the Allies really stuck it to Germany, really they did. Germans were out of work, poor, and hungry. They had nothing to be proud of, Hitler told them he would make all their problems go away. Over the past decade or so, whites seem to have nothing to be proud of. Go to work and make the comment that your proud your white, what happens? Would the same reaction come if a black person did this? Or a latino? Political correctness seems to be striping the white community of its pride, and its ability to show it. Look deep enough and you might see a pattern forming. Maybe, maybe not. This country seems to have the balance of a small child on a teeter totter, which way will the wind blow?
Quote:
New York, NY, February 6, 2007 … The Ku Klux Klan, which just a few years ago seemed static or even moribund compared to other white supremacist movements such as neo-Nazis, experienced "a surprising and troubling resurgence" during the past year due to the successful exploitation of hot-button issues including immigration, gay marriage and urban crime, according to the Anti-Defamation League (ADL).
The League, which monitors the activities of racist hate groups and reports its findings to law enforcement and policymakers, has documented a noticeable spike in activity by Klan chapters across the country. The KKK believes that the U.S. is "drowning" in a tide of non-white immigration, controlled and orchestrated by Jews, and is vigorously trying to bring this message to Americans concerned or fearful about immigration.
"If any one single issue or trend can be credited with re-energizing the Klan, it is the debate over immigration in America," said Deborah M. Lauter, ADL Civil Rights Director. "Klan groups have witnessed a surprising and troubling resurgence by exploiting fears of an immigration explosion, and the debate over immigration has, in turn, helped to fuel an increase in Klan activity, with new groups sprouting in parts of the country that have not seen much activity."
The full ADL report includes a slide show of recent Klan meetings and rallies and a state-by-state listing of active Klan chapters, or "Klaverns," across the country.
ADL has identified the following states as being notable for active or growing Klan chapters:
SOUTH: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas
MIDWEST: Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan and Ohio
GREAT PLAINS: Iowa and Nebraska
MID-ATLANTIC: Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia
The troubling Klan resurgence has manifested itself in a number of ways:
* Longstanding groups have increased their activity and experienced a rapid expansion in size.
* New groups have appeared, causing racial tensions in communities previously untroubled by racial issues. They hold anti-immigration rallies and recruitment drives and distribute racist literature with a new emphasis on the immigration issue, and Hispanics.
* Klan groups have become more active in parts of the country that had not seen much activity in recent years, including the Great Plains States such as Iowa and Nebraska, and Mid-Atlantic states such as Maryland, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
* Klan groups increasingly are cooperating with neo-Nazi groups, especially the Minnesota-based National Socialist Movement.
* The Klan has adopted new publicity tricks, such as sending racist fliers to school teachers during Black History Month, and has embraced the Internet as a means to spread anti-Semitism and racism. One group, the Empire Knights of the KKK, runs an Internet-based radio station, dubbed "KKK Radio," which broadcasts white power music and racist and anti-Semitic propaganda.
Reinventing the Klan
"Although some Klansmen may still hold cross-burnings dressed in robes and hoods, today's young Klansmen are more likely to look virtually indistinguishable from racist skinheads or neo-Nazis," said Ms. Lauter. "Today's Klansmen may be as likely to gather at white power music concerts or socialize at so-called 'unity rallies' with other white supremacists, as to participate in ritualistic cross burnings in the rural wilderness."
Since the early 1990s, Klan groups have become increasingly "nazified," with members embracing and immersing themselves in neo-Nazi and racist skinhead subcultures, adopting the music, dress, tattoos and imagery of neo-Nazis, according to ADL. Another trend has been "the collusion and cross-fertilization" of Klan chapters and other major American racist groups.
In March 2006, for example, about 80 members of the National Socialist Movement and various Klan groups met in Laurens, South Carolina, to discuss ways to increase cooperation. Groups on hand for the event included the National Socialist Movement, Aryan Nations, the Griffin Knights of the KKK, the Teutonic Knights of the KKK and the Yahweh Knights of the KKK.
There appears to be so much truth to what you are posting that it's scarry.
I guess it won't be long before our famous Homeland Security starts to crack down, and not on the illegals either,we already know how they feel about them.

Gosh, I see so many sides that want to be KKK, or just outright extremist that want to be Klan.
It is scary how far some of these guys will go to fly the flag. The (blank) brotherhood that you hear about in the ATF sweeps here in AZ is scary enough without giving them more juice thinking they are being backed nationally.
Dangerously, they think of a pure race, and problem is I'm part indian, english and Irish, so I am basically a potato. I don't think they will let me join. LOL!!! (it's a joke) truth about my heritage though.
It'll be "The Postman" (Kevin Costner) apocolyptic movie. One man starting a movement that ends government as we know it.

I haven't had time to read the whole thread yet, but I'll throw out a quick comment anyway...if someone's serious about being tired of getting branded a racist, joining the KKK might not be his optimal move.
I think most of the regulars on here know what my opinion of the Klu Klux Klan is, and why.
Having nothing left to lose makes for a fine Kristofferson song Pred, but it's no excuse for killing innocent people.
We don't have a race problem; we have an illegal immigration problem. Don't let anyone sidetrack you from the real problem.
I've worked, lived, and even loved among Mexicans and Mexican-Americans for most of my life in the Southwest. For some activist jerk to call me racist is a blatant attempt to change the subject.
I have no use for KKK and such mobs.Even if they started with good prioritys, due to the fact that cant or wont inforce laws and rules on them selves, only on others, they are wide open to being used anyway the leaders choose.Sounds like our government. samuel.

Maybe I missed something but, who is killing innocent people, and who called you a racist in an attempt to change the subject? Or are you referring to the story?

Obviously, the KKK has a long history of killing innocent people. "Nothing left to lose" is no excuse for joining it. The KKK is for white trash who are so low-down to begin with that they have no excuse beyond race to look down on someone else.
People who join the KKK and say it's because of illegal immigration are playing into the hands of activists and and our own government, who claim that anyone trying to stop the flow over the border is just being racist.
I was telling you not to get sidetracked into that trap. Illegal immigration is a labor issue, a public health issue, a national security issue and a lot of other things, but it isn't a race issue.
Yes, they have a history of killing, but it's been a long time since I've seen a "killed by KKK" story, so calling them killers may be a bit of a stretch when talking about newer members. I know a few members of the KKK, and white trash they are not. I know for a fact they were the only group that could stop a black janitor from harassing my mother while she was teaching. The school did nothing, the police did nothing, but a "The KKK is watching you" sticker on his driver side window sure seemed to change his mind. Deep down I believe some or most people have an unconscious(desire, drive, can't really come up with the right word) to stick within their "own" people. This is not racist, although many would like us to believe it is. When you have feelings of hate, anger, or frustration towards or about certain people or things, it comforts you to be around those who feel the same way you do. If you or I agree or disagree with this, it is irrelevant.
If Americans in general are against the KKK and the KKK is now gaining support due to illegal immigration, this should be a wake-up call to politicians.

I 'spect ol' LD is out there somewhere stirrin' the pot.
I also 'spect that developments like the rise of the KKK are bound to happen in times like these, when our leaders apparently ignore bad things going on.
I,personally don't believe this illegal problem is race based, but some on both sides, including illegals probably do.
Some thing must be going on for the KKK to get large support after so long a period of hibernation.
