If it get's so bad I can't use my vehicle I'd either go with the mountain bike or the horses we have nearby. If you want a really good, go anywhere pack animal, I'd go with an Alpaca. Eats anything and can carry a lot of weight, the fur can be shaved and is better than cardigan.

LOL No that's one of my dogs when we went up to Tennessee.

Here's an alpaca site. Alpaca.com - The World's Premier Alpaca Resource. Buy & Sell Alpacas @ Alpaca.com

The USDA is trying to get all horses, cow, goats, etc registered. They won't be able to go from state to state without these registrations, showing vaccines, etc. This info has been on several forums and can be found on the USDAs website. My point they may not be as many as there use to be. They (BLM) are rounding them up by the thousands here in Nevada.

Working on getting a smaller Diesel truck - when I run out of diesel and veggie oil, I'll switch to horse or donkey. I think a donkey is going to be your best bet - low maintenance and can carry a load.

Combine the two and get a mule, sure footed and extremely strong.

Hi guys better yet a camel, they eat virtually everything including thornbush amongst others, can survive weeks on end with no water and here in Texas they even have an experimental dairy project using them, and after spending a little time in North Africa and Eygpt I can tell you that roast camel is pretty good fare! And they can carry enormous amounts of goods ....

For me it would depend on how far we were going, how far along is shtf, and what kinda terrain we were going to traverse. It it is a long distance over uneasy terrain and the shtf is bad and i cannt get an extra tire for my bike, horse, baby, horse. But if it is over a paved road with traffic blocked up for miles and nobody is going to jump my a**, i would choose bike and i would consider both horse and bike over long distance because both are excellent.

Well the only place that I can really go is the everglades. So my p/u truck to the dock and an airboat after that. If I run out of fuel I guess I'm just gonna have to tie an alligator to each foot and go water skiing. I guess if I ran out of food I could eat one alligator and just ride the other....lol.

I don't know if it's possible to tie a john boat to the back of an air boat. I know that airboats are notoriously unstable, make the wrong move and you'll tip it. I'm not afraid of them gators....I can wrassle a few and be just fine.
