Our descendents will reflect back upon us and make that judgment.
Not only did the Romans practice homosexuality but so did the ancient Greek civilization. Historians believe they have documented that homosexuality contributed, among other societal problems, to the downfall of their long lasting empires.
Over the years I've had time think about the question of whether or not homosexuality is a learned trait or a phenomena of birth. In conclusion, I believe the genetic make-up of some people in today's society preconceives that they will likely become "gay."
In my mind I've concluded that the majority of gay people result from this phenomena of birth. For some reason which I can't explain, I believe a few gays result from "wannabe" fad, if this can be construed as a fad.
After studying about the ancient Roman and Greek cultures, I believe that their society had a totally different outlook than most human societies have today on this subject. Worship of the human body was high on their scale of values. Thus, look at all the Roman and Greek statues posing in the nude imortalizing, for them, at least, their ideas of human beauty. When I viewed some of those same statues I was naturally "turned off" but I tried to understand what caused artists and sculptors to pick humans so often for their subjects. In further conclusion, societies mores and values change over time. How far will our society change? Our descendents will reflect back upon us and make that judgment.
