Question New or old M1 carbine

I'm thinking of whether to buy a new M1 carbine from auto ordnance or to keep on shooting with my girlfriends M1 carbine Inland mfg General Motors 1942. Anyone from The Netherlands here? I've been told that because of the slight difference in lenght, the new carbine may not be used at the .30M1 competition in The Netherlands.

Well, I'm new here and know very little about M1 carbines. However, one thing I seem to have come to learn is that a carbine built with USGI parts on a bad day is better than a new commercial on a good day. That may not be entirely true, but you get the picture.

If you want a commercial carbine that has some value and dependability, look for an early Plainfield. Otherwise I recommend the good old USGI carbine. And the early Plainfields are fully interchangable with the USGI carbines.

We recently purchased an Underwood m1 Carbine for $600, this is a small price for an all USGI parts carbine, and its in great shape. And in 2030, I can sell the thing probably for $1900.

My real advice is to buy an ALL USGI parts M1 carbine, and to then buy a new carbine REALLY cheap. That way you can shoot the m1 carbine(new one) and polish and keep the old one in shooting condition.

My philosophy is a little different. Buy a bunch of USGI carbines and rotate through them when you want to go shooting. That way you can really enjoy them without wearing out any one of them! (I have 22 of them! *G*)
