Thumbs up

That's just another reason to get your portfolio of investments diversified. Stocks are naturally gonna go up and down, so if you've done your homework, now's an excellent time to buy more.

Selloff

They aren't talking about the cause. China sold off some dollars. They own trillions. Wonder who owns us now? You will see more of this. Precious metals are in. Stock up.

That's just lame Ivan. You didn't give him credit when the DOW climbed 5000 points on his watch (from its post 9-11 lows), but you're going to blame him when it drops 500.

By god I'm blaming somebody. I just looked at my 401K this morning, and I think I'm going to be sick.

Pred, how much of your 401K was bought at lower prices? I'll bet that your worries over your "losses" are unfounded. Most people complain of losses when they have substantial gains. It's just that the gains aren't as high as their "paper gains" were a few days prior. Unless of course all of your 401K contributions were made when the market was at its peak, but that is doubtful.

Cool

As high as the Dow has climbed, these losses are a drop in the bucket, don't mean a thing to the big guys,on the other hand the little guys get a bit rattled, hang in,it's gonna go back up higher than ever!
I'll bet that before it's over it will hit 15,000!

Well, Casull, most people don't like to drop $700+ overnight. Would you? True, I did end last year up 20%, and even with the drop last night I'm still up 3%. But still, who won't complain about losing money?

I didn't blame him when it went high, your right on that point. But, he SURE gave himself credit for it....

all my mutuals only dropped half the way to the point they dropped a few months ago....its called a correction...and will happen again....don't pay attention...over the long haul the market is still the best place to put your savings as long as you don't fall for the buy and sell games and just let them sit. over 5 years, mine (invested in european stock funds) have gained 12% a year....no way can a cd even get near that.....they have taken a couple big drops, and always recovered....that is just the nature of the beast.
