So if some natural disaster strikes tomorrow are you prepared? We have talked a lot about different things lately I figure we need to come up with some good advice for other people on the forum.

Let's come up with some really important tips for folks, and I will make one big post and leave it as a stick on the top of this forum

To survive it takes only a few elements....
Water
Food
Self protection devices (Firearms and ammoand a Knife).
Fire making ability
shelter
Clothing
And a Way to escape what you can't deal with.

It depends upon the type of natuaral disaster.

One of the most important things you need to take with you is.
Important documents.
Such as.

Social Security cards, Life insurance policies, Mortgage papers, Picture identifaction of you and your hole family, Emergency contact numbers and so on.

Some kind of radio or something so that you can possible keep track of the news.

Clothes

That is all for now.

severe weather is the biggest threat where i live. ive seen 8 feet of snow fall quickly enough to be truly dangerous, so that is what i am prepared for. 338, zombies are a close second! thats what all these rounds are for.

Tornader's are the biggest fear, floods can occur and cut most routes off. I asked for and got a very nice scanner for christmas a couple of years ago - absolutely love it, it is an indespensable tool. LEO's will know just about everything you'll need to know if shtf or a natural disaster happens.

My car is having problems, so I won't be more than ten miles from home - I'll be doing the RTB bit if the car dies during SHTF. So, my RTB Bag is more limited than a full fledged Bugout Bag would be. Basically, a survival-equipped vest (keeps necessities close at hand), stout fixed-blade knife, water bottle and snacks to keep energy up. LED headlight - a life saver at night in the boonies! Roll of TP - for when ya gotta go!
I'll more likely be riding the MC - I keep full survival gear packed on it - again designed for RTB, not for long-term bugout.
The big BOB is at home.

need flash lights, batterys, cell phone or some form of communication to a outside party. Radio a must. In a survival situation positive thinking and keeping yourself motivated to never give up will decide between life and death.

Crank. Batteries will be scarce during a SHTF type thing. I would just go to my grandparents. 900 gallons of diesel, 1800 lbs of meat, 10,000 rounds of ammo, cows, corn, electric generator, and they got their own water well. Plus the live out in the middle of freaking no where. Literally. I see maybe 3 people a month down there.

Crank would be best, but with a solar-powered battery recharger and rechargable batteries, you're not hurtin' either way.

Speaking of radios, we at G&G should arrange HAM, CB, or what-have-you, stations that we can communicate over locally and/or through a chain throughout the country. In SHTF situations, it's good to know and communicate with people out there with like minds and that you can at least count on to assist you in repelling a threat to the nation.... I think I'll start a new thread for that.

I think we can learn allot from the old west. Pack some beef jerky, carry your equalizer, get a jug of water, whiskey for healing wounds ; ), and a good compass couldn't hurt.

These are all valuable items you folks have meantioned, pausing here to suggest perhaps that I'd imagine there are no small number of people here reading all this that would benefit from some form of training? All the doodads and supplies are nice as are the recommendations I've read elsewhere for supplies to stock in the event of any form of calamity.
But going past the supplies shouldn't one be capable of survival without them? I've known hunters in the past who professed to be skilled long time woodmen who couldn't accomplish simple orienteering or make a fire without matches or a compass.... Let alone know how to identify plants or animals safe to eat UNCOOKED... or where to search for them.

Gimme a Ka-bar, and I could survive. Strap it to a stick for a spear, use the blade to start a fire, cut up animals, cauterize wounds, etc.
