New stock finishing tips

I have just received a brand new m1 stock from CMP for my greek field., and I have no idea how to finish it. It appears to have a very light oil finish that is lacking in some places. (I also checked and it is an absolute perfect fit..so no carving or sanding needed)
I would like to make it a mediam brown/red and really show off the wood rings...and also nice and shiney (like with a poly finish)
any advice on products or techniques?
