please dont take this the wrong way i am not picking on you ,but just buy an entire unissued sks and be done with it. use the one you have for parts in the unlikely event of breakage.that said i guess the price on the bolt isnt bad but when i started adding up those parts i thought jeeze just buy a new one!
You're right, billy. The problem is for me, is my path is very narrow compared to some of you. I do not have an FFL or C&R license to even pick up one of those. Unless there is one at a gun show I might get lucky on a good price on one. Plus, right now sks's are VERY popular and may wind up costing more than what you would normally get for it. I had even researched on how to get a C&R license but could find nothing anywhere other than sites requiring it for the purchase of this rifle. I'm assuming "C&R" means "Collect and Restore".
I live in Minnesota, so if you guys have a few options for me that would be great.
*EDIT*
OK, I don't know WHY these didn't come up before but I will see about getting a C&R before it's too late to get an unissued.

C&R curio and relic another option is to go to your local gunshop and ask if they will transfer a firearm for you .its usually about $20 then order a gun from whatever catches your eye the shop will send a copy of their ffl to the distributer and wahlah! you gotcher self a nice sks!
C&Rs are easy to get but you prolly dont want to wait. but do it for future purchases if you plan on starting a collection .youll thank me. i promise

Most gun shops will order something for you and give you small charge. The best SKS I have ever seen have come out of classicarms.us He only charges 15 for shipping and if you get a gun shop to order it for you they will only charge 20 and that is 35 extra that is worth every penny for the quality of guns that come out of classarms. Give it a shot.

Thanks sks forever. I requested a C&R license app so, again hopefully it will not be too late or take too long, I can try to order from there. In the mean time, I will have to enjoy the one I have and pray it doesn't slamfire too much. Put only 3 rnds in and make 'em think its a chinese with a 3 rnd burst.
Mine took a total of three weeks to get and only $35 dollars. The C&R pays for itself several times over, and classicarms does give discounts to C&R holders. Lots of places will give you better deals and bulk lots. I also suggest getting a K31 when you have your C&R because they are all almost gone.

For parts, also check sksman.com, i just got a stainless gas valve for a yugo from him. It was 20 bucks, i've seen the regular ones for 12-15 bucks. He might have the bolt parts you need. Doesn't hurt to look.
Thanks, heavy. I think I have checked that site but will put it in favorites for reference. I find that if you enjoy something enough, a great effort in something seems like no effort at all. The sks I bought may not be perfect, but I look at it as an old car: it takes a lot of love to get it back going in tip-top condition. Som I'm not disappointed by a few replacement parts.....as long as it's not ALOT of replacement parts. Right now, I'm only concerned about the bolt and firing pin.
Well, any help I can give, i will. My Yugo was a fixer-upper, the troulbe was finding time to work with it. Good luck, just remember, along with the price, check the quality.

i sent a copy to anything that caught my eye flippin thru the shotgun news . i musta sent out 25 or 30 copies of my c&r with a form letter i composed asking to be on mailing lists, discounts specials, ect.
Xilch I went to the sks boards and saw somebody with the same name as me. HOPEFULLY nobody is confusing me with him/her/it. Looks like they have some good info there. Still researching.
I acutaly used some solvent and some needle files to try to fix the bolt/firing pin. The way I looked at it, if it doesn't fix it then I will be buying a bolt and firing pin anyway. It doesn't hardly stick at all now but need to acutally SHOOT it now to see how the heat and cool down will affect it. I've been so busy the past week since I cleaned it, I didn't even have time to enjoy it.
UPDATE!!!
I just called Century International Arms Inc. about my SKS. I get parts for free at no charge to shipping for a year. YES!!!!
