Change of Interest/M1/M1 Carbine

Gentlemen,
Since CMP is almost out of M1 Garands, do you think that the interest will shift from the M1 Garand to the M1 Carbine? Do many of you think of buying just one Carbine or go for a group of them, as was done with the M1 Garand? I know the money problem will enter into this, but I would like to hear what you guys think.
Thanks again
Clancy

I am hoping that the sudden influx of carbines will result in prices dropping slightly. Then M1 Garand prices will drop too. Then, when some need money, those carbines will be even less expensive than CMP. But that's just my dream.

M1 Rifle / M1 Carbine

Hi, Clancy...

Well, sir, I think we'll find that there will be a relatively small cross-over in the collecting community. Those interested in strictly military firearms will jump on the carbines, but I don't really see the M1 rifle crowd going overboard on 'em: One, maybe two, but that's it.

With the shooters: I don't think there will be much of a jump at all. Ammo's too hard to get and too expensive, and I don't think there are any strictly M1 Carbine matches, are there?

'Bout the only folks going for the carbine are going to be those who want "one like they/paw/granpaw carried in the service." Yeah, sure, it's a cute little thing, and Colonel George thought it a fine bit of ordnance, but I lugged one around for awhile in the 'Nam in '63. Had it not been issued to me by the ARVN Battalion CO, who would have lost face had I wrapped the **** thing around a rock, I would have! I guess you can tell that my personal opinion of the M1 Carbine is: it's good for shooting holes in the air, and little else; OK, OK, my crotchets are showing! You'd be correct, too, in assuming that I'm not going to buy a carbine! [grin]

There.

They even have there own club!
I do understand that ammo isn't an issue here!
