Pred:There is a high percentage of cowards. These are the ones that want weapons taken away because they know they dont have guts to defend themselves and their country. They want to negotiate. But there are some brave people in this world. The ones on the flight in Pennsylvania,The police and firefighters at 9-11,and especially the ones that are serving, have served, and will serve defending this great country. samuel.

This smells - the first shooting ahppened at 7:15am, then the "big" rampage starts at 9:15am, ***???? This school just went through 2 bomb threats, the latest just last Friday??? The place had to be crawling with police..... you'd think.
Also, Virginia does have concealed carry but VT just recently put into place a "gun free zone" policy, basically disarming anyone who would want to protect themselves. This just smells - a trajedy that didn't have to happen and probably shouldn't have. And of course only law abiding folk will be punished by over the top, reactionary legislation sure to come out of this - probably a democrap operation to bring gun control around - wheew-ah - my conspiracy theory meter is pegged out, red-lining big time!

This is very tragic. My thoughts and prayers are with those effected by this senseless mess.
But, I think yall's conspiracy meter is working too hard! No conspiracy, just another nut-case with a gun. The true statement above is that if the school had not been a gun-free zone, this would likely had ended much differently. Preaching to the choir here, but this could be easily spun into an argument for less gun control. Never mind - the liberal media would never let that happen.

Ok, I've got a question. How come some people refuse to believe conspiracy theories? I mean, you can believe in an invisible man in the sky but you won't believe our government would do something to hurt or harm us to push their own agenda? Maybe this is for another thread, but still....

This is such a horrible event.

Like all of you are saying, a lot of this could have been prevented if someone was carrying a concealed weapon. I'm currently attending the University of Maine, and our campus is also a firearm free zone...in Maine...kind of hard to believe.

I never understood why someone would want to eliminate all firearms on a campus. The evil idiots will still be able to get guns on campus, while the honest that want to protect are not able to.

Oh well

Angry

Yep - the sheep always want the sheepdogs defanged, even as the wolves run among them. Purely pathetic. These fools prove one glaring fact - one criminal with a gun can OWN them.

The timing of this tragedy is impeccable . . .

In time enough details will be learned to know what really happened. Me speculating about it won't change the facts, though.

One thing's for sure...being a "gun free zone" only helped the perp. That's gotta be revisited by decision makers before more of the same occurs.

Thumbs down

Pathetic,that's my word for it.
While the nut was inside killing students the "warriors" out side played with their toys and postured for the cameras.
When they saw the nut took himself out they postured a bit more then packed up their toys and headed for the barn.
All it would have taken was one MAN inside with a weapon and it could have been all over, instead they had an army of useless cowboys outside postureing for the afore mentioned cameras.
Pathetic.

Since when did 30 college students become defenseless sheep? Bunch of cowards is right, the killer, the cops, and the students.

The way I think of it is that to kill that many people so fast he must have had some major fire power, and it would be only natural to run from that when people are being cut down. Now the cops on the other hand should have gone in full force and shot that nut bag as soon as they arrived. SWAT takes way to long to do their thing and by the time they do enter it is already too late. This is something that nobody will ever know if it could have been prevented and there is no blame to place on anybody really, just a sad, terrible event. It is written in the book of most major things to ever happen in the U.S. I can't figure out why the place wasn't stormed right off the bat, shoot the killer first and think about it later. thoughts?

agreed, if any of the cops had a "PAIR" the number of deaths could have been greatly reduced!

The Blotter

I thought you guys would get a kick out of ABC's "investigative reporting". Check out the time the article was written and be sure to read the responses by the readers.

("High capacity magazines read extreme firepower and gusto. Stock Up!" is the headline of one of many gun shop Web sites.)

Can anyone ever remember seeing any web advertisement using such wording? Notice no link is provided and the only person interviewed was Paul Helmke of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence.
