Big Rigs

Just wondering what kinda big rigs you guys like or if a certain one catches your eye. Im a trucker so that kinda explains why im posting this poll. I myself am a big Kenworth fan. I love the look of them, the cab lay out, and if its gotta a sleeper I like the space some of the larger ones have and the lay out of it also. I'll list the major ones that came to mind. If you guys take this poll thanks.

I like the looks of the Peterbuilt, especially with gun turrets on them. I've heard it said that Kenworth used to be the Cadillac of trucks. Which are now? Volvo? Western Star? I like any of them when they're hauling guns!

Not a trucker, but at the bus company I used to work at, they had an old highway plow/salt truck from the 50's made by Oshkosh. That thing was cool. I think the only instrumentation it had was a speedometer, and a fuel gage. That truck was an animal.

I know what you mean littlejoe. I used to work for our county's highway department and we had 2 Oshkosh trucks. One was a snow plow and the other one was a snow blower. I think the snow plow one was 1960's something and the snow blower was a 1940 something if i remember right. They are beasts and I mean beasts.

I'm a loyal Peterbilt fan as my first truck when I became a solo driver, was a long-nose 379 w\475 Cat, Super 10 trans, and 3.55 rears.
For you guys that like monsters, I just delivered a Western Star 4900 SA with double steer axles (one driven) and three rear drive axles, 550 hp. Cat, 18 spd. Eaton-Fuller, and 4.70 gears. I'm 6'5" and the floor was just about level with my chin and I had to stretch to reach the door lock button. Here's a near-identical truck with a bed mounted on it. http://www.wstar.com/Trucks/SevereEx...eer/4900sa.asp

I picked Volvo because i had an FL/10 cab over pulling a 48 foot taughtliner run over the top of me. I went under the last wheel of the trailer. Still not sure how it did'nt pop me like a sausage.

Another good one is Scania, and Western Star make a good truck. We had one at work that pulled a float that used to deliver my machines to the job site.

I totaled out a Freightliner service van in 2004. I was going about 65 and hydroplaned and hit an embankment at about a 45 degree angle and then rolled it 1 time. It was so well built and because of that I'm here today.
I know thats not an 18 wheeler but if they build them as well as they did those service vans they got to be one of the best.
Did I get hurt ? Yep I did, But God healed me completely...A.H

Brockway had a certain look that I liked, that and Diamond Reo. You forgot Mack, yeah I know its not a "classy" truck, but it is a working mans truck. As for my favorite, I would have to say Autocar is the top of my list. I guess I just like those ugly trucks.

This board needs a live and kickin' trucking thread, so REVIVE!!!
Anyways, had a look at a used Peterbilt the other day, as I have to find a good truck for transporting goods and riggings for sales fairs and such for my outdoors shop. Since US trucks are rare over here they have a certain affectionada and attracts a crowd anywhere you park them. So I though a 40 foot trailer with a blazing logo and my slogan would be a good thing for my PR. Well, the Peterbilt was a `96 and had rund I don't know how many miles. It was in decent technical condition indeed, but the interior wasn't good at all. Price was steep, and it wasn't even registered. Those things are not the easiest the get an approval for registration for either... But hey, HOW does anyone manouver that thing safely outside highways??! I couldn't see didly over that huge nose... That alone was reasons for letting it pass. Sorry guys! No cool crome and high pipes can convince me otherwise!! I'm still in the market but looking for a Swedish made Scania or Volvo. Either a 3 axel long box with side doors and a rear lift, or a short semi with a swing axel + a suitable truck.

These are my favourites so far:

I drive an older Internationl, but we have Volvo's & Pete's too.
There is talk about getting Hino's to replace 8 of our Internationals...The mechanics say they are better to work on.

Haul with this...

I know nothing about semi's so I just picked peterbilt because that is what Jay drove on ice road truckers, and I thought Jay was the coolest of the bunch.
