Cool Best 91/30 group so far

Here is the best group I can get with my 1905 (102 years old) sa marked 91/30 with ironsights @50 yards.
I'm sure the rifle can shoot better than this, so I definitly need more practice.
but i'm gettin there.

by the way i'm using Hungarian 1970 7.62x54r Steel Core Heavy Ball

Pretty good shooting. Keep practicing and keep the rifle swabbed out!

what would you suggest for a rest?

btw I don't get to shoot much as the closest free outdoor range is 40 minutes away so I only get to go once or twice every month.

I use sand bags, or a rolled up feather pillow and my poor shoulder as a rest.

Be careful about resting on your truck. The muzzle blast can do some serious damage to the paint. Remember those photos with the flame erupting from those M-44 muzzles?

My best is a 3/4 inch group at 100 yards and one 2" group at 200 yards. My normal groups are a usually about 2" at 100 yards and about 4" at 200. This is with a scoped M91/30, 1946 with a hex receiver, shootin' from a bench rest.

I only shoot S&B hunting ammo. Try a sand bag or sack of rice. You don't want to scratch that pretty stock. My cousin was shooting some greek ammo and we all took 5 steps back after the first round. Would love to see those at night. Not too dirty, it only took him 2 hours to clean the crud from his bore.
