Me, I was on my way, though I didn't really know it, out of a ten year relationship.

First memory of 1985, a mate shot himself in the foot so I got asked to go do his job out west, desilting dams. He stayed on and was our cook while his foot healed. It was a cold winter that year, pretty rare thing now days, we seem to have a 10 month summer now. I was 22 years old in 1985.

1985 are some of my first memories that stick with me today.

I was 3 (turned 4 in december of that year) and took a trip with the family to Nova Scotia, Canada to pay respects to my great uncle who had passed away. It's the only time I've been to NS, CA.

I was a junior in high school and in the local fire department and started my first real job. I already worked one summer in a government program, but I started my first regular job that year. I also got my first car that November.

Hmmmm! In 1985 I was 48 y.o., teaching Co-Op Marketing Education to H.S. seniors, playing lots of tennis, married 24 years, had two daughters ages 16 & 21, into boating and water skiing, lived in the same house 17 years, drove a new Buick La Sabre, and looking for a place to hunt.

1985. I vaguely remember. I was already happily divorced, living on my own, bought some big boy toys including my first 4 wheel drive, motorcycle, guns and other stuff.
Yep, good old days. But then it got screwed up with another marriage 5 years later. Thats over too.
But 22 years later, I'm happier than ever.
It was a long time ago. Not a time I'd like to re-live. Not a good time in my life except for I finally just said to heck with stuff and went "stupid" I did everything I was told I couldnt do.
I did stupid stuff, I survived and glad I did it!

Exclamation

I was working my butt off trying to keep the dam bridges up and operating on a shoe string budget for the city of Tampa!

I was living in a house that my mother bought, smoking marijuana all the time, and sleeping with a different girl every night. Thank God I got rescued from that kind of life.
