I am lousy on a computer and dont know how to write this up but will do my best:A small gun dealer in Bristol,Indiana went to a gun show in South Bend,Indiana and sold a hand gun to a person on a saturday but didnt run the NICS check until monday. This gun was used to kill one South Bend officer and wound another the way I understand it before it went through the check. The story I read on it was in the friday edition of the South Bend Tribune. The dealer had an FFL.He is up on several charges including false statements. The reason I am posting this is because I believe this one dealer has caused great harm to gun shows and gun trading in general.I dont want to go into personal opinions that might influence this story but I think some of you computer whizes could get the whole story so people could understand what went down. There are dealers out there doing business like this and in this case I was in his store twice about 5 years ago and didnt feel right about what I saw and didnt go back.I wish I could put the whole story on so you could understand what happened.I believe he not only caused the death of an officer,he did great harm to gun shows and gun rights. samuel.
Yep, that dealer's career is gone, if not his liberty. He did act very foolishly, and broke Federal law - doom on him. The Antis will try to paint all dealers with the same dirty brush.
First, the gun didn't kill anyone, the person behind it did. Put a gun next to you on the table, come back and post when it harms you or someone else. Second, the dealer is a moron.
Pred:You really scared me.But I checked and had stated the gun was "used to kill an officer".Reverend Billy Graham once stated that you could take all the firearms in the world and place them in one big pile and let children play all the way around them and no one would be injured until they were touched by humans. The paper stated the dealer faces a max of 15yrs-fine of $750k-or both. But to me the harm to others that stand for the second ammendment and freedom can never be compensated. samuel.
I only live about 5 miles from his "gun shop." Its name pretty well sums up the way he has always done business: Hole-In-The-Wall Gun Works. I walked in once a few years ago right after he open up, promptly walked out and never again darkened his door. He just didn't seem to be the kind of person I wanted to do business with.
I think we understood him perfectly well, Pred (gun kills cop). I suppose he could've said, "dealer sells gun USED TO kill cop," but why split semantic hairs?
Not really trying to grill Samuel, just tired of seeing and hearing "Gun kills..." however many follows. We of all people need to make sure to point out that guns don't kill.
Well, pred, I've posted something like this before on the phrase "Guns don't kill people. People kill people." Anti-gun people see the first half and automatically say "LIES!!" You know, if you say that first phase by itself, it is false. They can kill people. That's what the anti-gunners see and that's what they play off of. As hard as it is to accept sometimes, that's what guns are designed to do: to kill. Whether it's a rodent in the back yard, a deer in the forest, or that theif in your house. That is what they are disigned to do.
NOW, when the 2nd part is introduced "People kill people", that statement by itself is true. Put the whole thing together and that makes the whole thing as well true. The gun is an inanimate object. It has a specific purpose but, if nobody touches it, it does not fulfill it's purpose other than as a wall ornimate or paperwieght. Anti-gunners don't see this. They don't want to see this. Which means we will be lead by former M.J.-smokin-hippies-turned-politicians and our policies and laws will be based by them. Screw that
As a former M.J.-smoking-hippie-turned-whatever myself, SKS NOOB, I can assure you that attitudes towards guns and the law have jack to do with whether one used to get stoned...if you find a politician in my age bracket who claims he never took a toke, he's probably lying thru his teeth. And if he's telling the truth, the odds are he's such an up-tight little nerd that he shouldn't be trusted anyway.
Let 'em get stoned enough and people will believe or agree with anything. Not saying you were one of 'em troy, but it's always interesting to watch from the outside and see how much people change with anything in excess.
You are 100% right Pred, guns are always attacking honest folks, sometimes to the point of reloading them selves,at least that's the way the libs and media spin it!
We should sound of and draw attention when they do things like that!
Ya done good!
I stand corrected.I apoligise to the whole gun loving world.I agree the phraseoligy should state a person did the crime. Thanks Pred for keeping me in line. samuel.
Although I understand and agree with the point Pred had in mind with his correction, I had no problem with the use of "gun that kills" in this context.
After all, how many times have you heard, "the bullet that killed him came from such-and-such a direction," or "the car that killed him was doing ninety miles an hour"? it's understood that a person was wielding the weapon or holding the steering wheel.
Anyone else notice the 15yr sentence? I wouldn't mind except that people get less for murder. An accessory due to negligence, yes. Deserving of a greater penalty? I don't think so. If the actual murderer got life from the same court then I wouldn't mind. Let's see if that actually happens.

Another tool for the Anti-Gun turds to use.
I feel the dealer should have the book thrown at him for what he didn't do and for hurting the law abideing gun owners. A.H
All this does is show how screwed up this country is. A drunk driver could kill a family of four and get less time. Drug dealers, rapists, and even murders get less time. I'm not trying to take up for the gun dealer, but when you look at this, it is pretty messed up.
