Hi Alan,
Both of my Rugers are P95DC's. They are shooters, not showpieces - almost 3,000 thru one and over 2,000 thru the other. Very little obvious wear on other one.
I'm not sure what you mean by "serious rub marks on the leading edge of the barrel block on top". My barrel blocks have a little wear, mostly on the edges of the bottom, opposite the feedramp, around where the guide rod connect to the barrel block.
I have had really good experience with Ruger service the few times I have needed it. If you think there is a real problem, I wouldn't hesitate to send it to Ruger for service. Especially if you have another firearm that you can use until the P89 is returned to you.
The only problem I've had with my P95DCs is when a guide rod retention clip came off and I lost the retention clip and the collar. Ruger sent me free replacements are no charge.
Best regards,

My P89 only has about 300 rds. through it. I realize that the wear marks probably will not hurt anything but it's the principle of the whole thing. Should I call Ruger or try to polish the ruff areas out. Just wondering if you have had any problems with your Rugers?
Thank you.
