Enblocs ejecting early!

I just got an M1 from the CMP and went to shoot it earlier today.(It's a '44 springfield with a post war trigger group) Every once and a while the enbloc would pop half way out with anywhere from 1-4 rounds still in it. Needless to say...what the heck!? Anyone know why this is happening? (I was shooting greek surplus)

Premature Clip Ejection

LeatherNeck...

Take a good look at the clip latch where it holds the enbloc clip in the receiver. If that's too worn, it might have some effect.

Most likely, however is that the clip latch spring has weakened. You can pull the clip latch pin and clip latch, stretch the spring, reassemble and test fire, and see if that stops the problem. If it does, get hold of a new spring (Fulton Armory, at Fulton Armory: FAR-15 Stuff, Garand Stuff, and More! has a good one. No, I don't own any Fulton Armory stock, but I've used their springs!) Get their heavy-duty spring; it's worth the extra money.

(M1 parts are to be found at M1Parts on the Fulton Armory website.

Hope this helps.

Original stock or a Boyds? Check the area where the clip latch pivots out towards the stock when you push on it. Sometime they don't have enough clearance and under recoil it will cause the enbloc to unlatch. Had that trouble with a Boyds. And with a weak spring, it only adds to the problem. HTH
