billy : i had my first match of the year today also, but i run it ... the first was to be last mth. , but we couldnt see the targets cause of the snow.. i had 22 shooters today and 6 were new shooters.. everbody walked away with a smile on their faces...
i had guys that drive around and hit diffrent matches and they helped the new guys .. 1 thing that was talked about was the use of the scope. most of the shooters that shoot all the time use target turrets scopes for the diffrent ranges , but the talk was about how to use a regular scope on this fun game ...
the first thing you want to sight in on is the turkeys !!! shoot dead on !!! then when you start out on the chickens aim at their feet. then you hold on the pigs at their bellys. and last the ram you aim at the top of his back .. this should give you the right sight adjustment...
the scores at my shoot were the highest at 27 and the lowest was 3 !!! so dont give up its a fun game !!!!!

Billy its good to see you try and like silhouette, I've had a lot of fun over the years and met great people doing it. I had to quit for several years and am just starting back. It's probably easier to start from the begining than to come back. The one constant is that the people are still great and nothing beats knocking down the targets. Just remember it's mostly a mental game.

Hey Billy, congrats on just doing it man. Very cool. I hope to someday try my hand at competitive shooting also...

And I'm glad you're not discouraged with your first time results. I would have to say, and I'm sure you know this, that the conditions probably played the biggest part of your results?

Which gun or guns did you use and was today's with or without scope or both? You said small bore, did you use your CZ for this first one?

There's a cowboy range close by, all the old style buildings and such...

...it'd be fun to strap on the side iron and have a chance to got shooting out there some day.

YES, with more old west replica buildings around the shooting areas...

...they've done so well getting it set up that Doc Holiday and the gang could stroll through and feel at home.

I'll see if I can find their web site and show you...

Here's a link to some of the ones in my neck of the woods...

...but not the one just up the road, which I'm still searching for.
