HeHe None of you will know what I'm talking about, but before I bought my Mazda fourby I had a 1981 WB 'Holden' ute( made by the General, of course!) with a 308 bored out to around 340 wit a 650 double pumper roller rockers oversized valves and a heavy duty auto for pulling the horse float.

Mate did it haul *****, I wish I had a Photo, it was my first car, and if you can't tell I'm still in love, but the fuel and rego cost to much on a Jackeroo's wages and I had to sell it.

Australian trucks are some of the coolest vehicles on this planet! I subscribe to 4 4x4 magazines and every once in awhile they do stories on Australian trucks or a reader from down under will send in a pic of their vehicle. I have to go take a cold shower afterwards!

Tribal dividend check? Are you Indian L.D.? I'm half Cherokee. But I don't get any checks for being half, plus no tribal land close (at least not Cherokee).

Thumbs up More on non-syncro gear shifting

Ok Dana, I've driven non-syncro transmission trucks. First was a Model A truck, probably about a 1 ton size, then a 1937 1-1/2 ton Chevy flatbed farm truck, then a 1948 3/4 ton Ford flatbed truck.

All required the driver to "double clutch" when shifting the transmission either up or down. That could be tricky...sort of like coordinating the engine acceleration with the moving gears.

Even tricker was the skill of shifting gears without using the clutch. Occasionally the shift was missed resulting in "ground hamburger" gears.

Haha, A DONK is an engine as in donkey, and when it is spoken it is done with a tim the toolman type grunt,

eg: Yeah it's got a 454 donk uhrgh huhuh, followed by much beating of the chest and allround strutting.

Has anyone ever driven a roadranger gearbox, I leart to drive a 10 ton truck with one of these, a 12 speed with a 3208 v8 CAT 'donk' did that take some practice or what, you are only supposed to use the clutch for taking off after that it's all revs and luck.

Oh yeah, the latest Dodge GT, I think is imported from Australia, it's called a Holden Monaro, very nice.

Going hunting this weekend, I'll get some pics of our pigging trucks, Toyota Landcruisers mostly.

Here is a photo of my pickup last March. Didn't get to use the plow too much last year, but I'm not complaining.
