Jerry, the 4.3 is a tough motor. There a quite a few of these trucks running around my neck of the woods, rust seems to be their main killer. Mechanically they are pretty sound.

Wink Breaking news on the history of installing AC in vehicless

The 3 Goldberg brothers, Norman, Hyman, and Max invented and
developed the first automobile air-conditioner.

On July 17th, 1946, the temperature in Detroit was 97.

The 3 brothers walked into old man Henry Ford's office and
sweet-talked his secretary into telling him that 3 gentlemen
were there with the most exciting innovation in the auto
industry since the electric starter.

Henry was curious and invited them into his office. They
refused and instead asked that he come out to the parking
lot to their car.

They persuaded him to get into the car which was about
130 - turned on the air-conditioner and cooled the car
off immediately.

The old man got very excited and invited them back to the
office, where he offered them 3 million dollars for the
patent.

The brothers refused saying they would settle for 2
million but they wanted the recognition by having a
label "The Goldberg Air-Conditioner" on the dashboard
of each car that it was installed in.

Now old man Ford was more than just a little bit Anti-Semitic,
and there was no way he was going to put the Goldbergs
name on 2 million Ford cars.

They haggled back and forth for about 2 hours and finally
agreed on 4 million dollars and that just their first
names would be shown.

And so, even today, all Ford air-conditioners show on
the controls, the names "Norm, Hi, & Max".

Okay. There are limits to free speech, Ox. Someone needs to be shot for that one...let us know who passed it on to you, and we may let you live.

I have a 1997 Chevy 1500 Cheyenne. It has about 140,000 miles on it. It has the 4.3 liter V-6 with a 5 speed transmission. That 4.3 liter is a strong motor. The truck is really good on gas, as well.

It has 30,000 certified miles on it and only a couple of teeny rust spots. It has the big 300 6 cyl. and 4 sp trans. Also a nice cap with the sliding windows with screens.it needs new tires from dry rot and a tune up.It'll be a good fishing/hunting truck. What do y'all drive and what kind of deals have you come across in your lifetimes? Whats the one you miss and shoulda kept? Oh by the way, bought the wife some new furniture so that creepy, icy glare would go away!

Good Truck. And like Ron White says: "Diamonds....that'll shut 'er up!" hah!

I have a 1972 Mustang and a 1974 Bronco. My stang is just my fun car, for weekends and fun driving. I love the bronco, it is my run-a-muck vehicle. Snow, rain, mountains...whatever...it'll handle it. Some rust, not too bad though. The engine is going to need replaced soon. It has about 140k miles. I want to get a 351C or W and put in there with a 750 Edelbroch carb and some nice dual exhaust, maybe an X-pipe, if it'll fit right. I like the dual tanks. Some people like to put one big tank in, but I like the little gadgets and switches...it is fun.

I've been thinking about getting a 70's Pinzgauer. Anyone seen em? They are great for the trail and gettin through snow and most anything really. Yeah, they are fugly, but they have the off-road capability of nothing I've ever seen before:

Whew...about 19 mpg Highway/ 16 City...won't win any milage awards but when you kick in that 5.4 Triton you really smile.

My dad just turned 94 on Monday and gave up driving...he gave me his old car to drive to work ('93 Chevy Cavalier 2.2 liter 4 cylinder 5 spd tranny)

Filled it up yesterday for $29 ....takes $110 to fill up my truck!

Been driving the Cavalier to work and driving the truck on weekends....

'80 Blazer 4spd

Huge inside, made a bunk, took out the back seat, in low range I once bent a car frame pulling him out of deep snow. Huge power with HD chains on four wheels and its real easy to keep fixed. I can change the front Ujoynts for $20 apeice . Not real pretty but for elk hunting I dont care if it aint polished. Change a fender in an afternoon! A perpetual motion machine. 15mpg with a big load. Only $75 for fillup. Not bad for an 80mph Tank.

Getting ready to lose one of my yard anchors

I have a 1967 Chevy pickup with a 283 in it, that I put a service bed on. Got it from a tenant for back rent and was never able to clear the title, so I stopped driving it years ago. It was originally from his dad, who used it to haul a four-horse trailer up the hill to their cabin by Big Bear. It has a trailer-brake setup, and a clutch so strong it'll throw your knee straight into your teeth if you're not careful.

For some reason, Code Enforcement is starting to get antsy about the number of vehicles parked on my place. Maybe it's because of that used-car salesman, who hung out in my yard for an hour before he realized he'd taken a wrong turn and wasn't at work after all...

I think I've outlasted the DMV's computer and could get it licensed now if I tried, but I have enough projects undone already. So I'll probably pull the motor in case I ever want to put it in my CJ5 Jeep, and have it towed away.

My 1997 Chevy C1500 Cheyenne. It has the 4.3 liter V-6, 5 speed, dual exhaust, and spray in bed liner. Only thing I wish it had is 4 wheel drive.

My wife and I bought our son when he turned 17 a like new but used 1994
Dodge Dakota 4X4 SLT extended cab truck from a friend. Color of truck is Black. It came with new BF Goodrich 31-10-50R- 15 mud tires. Weve since put a 2nd set of BF Goodrich same size A/T tires on it. Twice !
I have kept his truck in top notch condition and change the oil every 3000 miles or less and add 1 QT. of Slick 50 every 3rd Oil Change.
Well 3 weeks ago he pulls in our driveway and lays on the horn and the wife and I go out to see who it is in a new 07 Nissan 4X4 Frontier 4 door pick up. It was our son, after takeing us for a ride in his new truck he ask me to go to the dealersship with him to pick up the Dodge. Which we did.
He handed me the keys and said Daddy enjoy your new truck ( The Dodge Dakota ) So I've been bessey cleaning and polishing my new to me hunt'in ride. It still is a nice clean truck...A.H

Nice of him to give it back instead of trading it in for a few bucks, or was it still in your name anyway? Sounds like you're planning to enjoy it.

A year or two ago, my 16-year-old told me, "Dad, when you die I get your guns and your Jeep." I told him, "you're probably gonna have a long wait, kid; maybe you should get some of your own in the meantime."

But he's right; he will. My older boy isn't all that interested in anything that doesn't have an internet connection, and the wife would just sell them.
